Finally, a Big Screen Adaptation of John Grisham's "The Testament"

Apparently, John Grisham waited for 10 years before saying yes to the big screen adaptation of his 1999 novel "The Testament."

Hunt Lowry, producer of the film "A Time to Kill," Grisham's first novel, is working with Mark Johnson and 821 Entertainment Group to option the book.

"The Testament" tells the tale of a billionaire who leaves his money to an illegitimate daughter. A down-and-out lawyer helps her fight the billionaire's money-hungry relatives.

Grisham will be able to give creative input, so this adaptation will be true to the author's vision. He was put-off by Hollywood before, that's why he created his self-imposed movie moratorium.

But all that is over. Grisham is ready to embrace Hollywood again.

Some of the author's works being turned into movies are:

"The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town" -- I love this book! I read this in one sitting! And it's a nonfiction account! But the film is on hold right now pending a lawsuit filed by one of the subjects in the book. I'm really looking forward to a film version of this book

"Playing for PIzza" -- currently, director Adam Shankman ("Hairspray," Bedtime Stories") is attached.

"The Associate" -- Shia LaBeouf is attached to star for Parmount Pictures.

Who Will Voice Live Action Comedy "The Zookeeper?"

Adam Sandler, Cher, Jon Favreau, Sylvester Stallone, and Judd Apatow will provide animal voices for the live-action comedy "The Zookeepers" starring Kevin James and Rosario Dawson. Sandler will also produce, as well as voice a capuchin monkey.

Cher will voice a giraffe, Favreau will be a bear, Stallone will be a lion, and Apatow, an elephant. Nick Nolte is in talks to voice a gorilla.

Frank Coraci is set to direct from a script by Jay Scherick and David Ronn, James, Rock Reuben, and Nick Bakay.

The film will revolve around a zookeeper who learns how to win back the woman of his dreams from the zoo animals he's taking care of. Like "Babe" but set in zoo and with more romance!

Universal Pictures to Make Still-Unfinished Larry Doyle Novel "Go Mutants!"

Universal Pictures bought the rights to the unfinished Larry Doyle novel "Go Mutants!" Doyle will write the script.

The author recently adapted his book "I Love You, Beth Cooper" for FOX premiering in theaters July 10.

According to Variety:

"Go Mutants!" is a teen comedy/adventure set in a high school where all of the tropes from classic 1950s alien invasion movies came true. Years later, the children of those mutant creatures have assimilated among the other kids.

Doyle said the book and movie will feature cameos from 1950s sci-fi creature flicks such as Gort from "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "The Creature from the Black Lagoon." Hmmm, much like "Monsters vs. Aliens."

The author is finishing the novel this summer and is working on the script at the same time.

Moviegoers Say Yes to "The Proposal!" Sandra Bullock Comedy Opened at No. 1

"The Proposal" scored the summer's first big romantic comedy hit! The Sandra Bullock-Ryan Reynolds flick sold $34.1 million worth of tickets debuting at No. 1.

The film beat Bullock's previous No. 1 film, "Premonition," which took in $17.6 million.

(Check out my movie review of "The Proposal" right here, and my interviews with the cast and Director Anne Fletcher right here)

Previous No. 1 film for two weekends in a row, the super-funny "The Hangover" slipped to No. 2 with $26.9 million. But the bachelor-party comedy is on its merry way to $200 million mark. So far, "The Hangover" raised its total to $152.9 million, not bad for a film that was made for $30 million.

Meanwhile, the Disney-Pixar animated adventure "Up" landed at No. 3 with $21.3 million at the box-office lifting its total to $224.1 million. "Up" is very close to beating "Star Trek" as the biggest movie of 2009, so far.

(Check out my movie review of "Up" right here, and my interviews with the cast and Director Pete Docter right here)

Making its so-so debut at No. 4 is the ho-hum comedy "Year One" starring Jack Black and Michael Cera. The prehistoric snooze-a-thon sold $20.2 million at the box-office, proving once again, that moviegoers are not ready to mix prehistoric with comedy (yeah, remember "Land of the Lost's" poor box-office performance?).

Of course the stage is set for Paramount's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" which is opening this coming Wednesday. So far, the sequeld opened huge overseas taking in $14.1 million in Britain and $5.8 million in Japan.

Here's the estimated Top 10 Box-Office List for weekend of June 19th:

1. "The Proposal," $34.1 million.

2. "The Hangover," $26.9 million.

3. "Up," $21.3 million.

3. "Year One," $20.2 million.

5. "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3," $11.3 million.

6. "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," $7.3 million.

7. "Star Trek," $4.7 million.

8. "Land of the Lost," $4 million.

9. "Imagine That," $3.1 million.

10. "Terminator Salvation," $3.07 million.
