Ryan Reynolds Goes Indie for Next Movie

After helping make "The Proposal" a No. 1 box-office success with Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds wants to do a grittier, darker follow-up.

The actor is set to star in "Buried," where he'll play a civilian contractor in Iraq who's, well, buried alive, in a coffin in the desert. The twist? He needs to find a way out using a cell phone, a candle, and a knife. Darn it, if only MacGyver is there :happy

Set to direct is Rodrigo Cortes from a script by Chris Sparling. Production is set to begin this month in Barcelona. Sorry "Deadpool" fans, Reynolds will work on this project first before the Marvel Comics adaptation.

Like many successful actors before him, Reynolds chose to take the independent film route in order to stretch his acting chops.

"My Sister's Keeper" Movie Review! Read One Minor But Interesting Spoiler!

Director Nick Cassavetes returns with his screenwriting partner from “The Notebook,” Jeremy Leven, for “My Sister’s Keeper.” The film is a shameless tearjerker that will make you cry, but believe me, you will not feel guilty from doing so.

Cassavetes smartly chose to frame “My Sister’s Keeper” as a character-driven study. If he allowed the material’s decidedly melodramatic nature rear its ugly head, then the film would have just been a Lifetime Movie Channel special. Instead, “My Sister’s Keeper” is definitely a keeper and a great counterprogramming for those who wish to escape the “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” crowd.

Based on the beloved novel by Jodi Picoult, the film posits a thought-provoking question: if one of your children is dying and is in need of a rare bone marrow match, would you order a doctor to make you a new child designed to help the sick one? Read More...

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" Movie Review! How Many Kisses Do Megatron and Optimus Prime Get?

The biggest movie of the summer is finally here -- "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." It's bigger, longer, louder, but is it worth your $10? Is Shia LaBeouf still charming? Is Megan Fox still hot? And did Michael Bay surpassed the original? (Yeah, I enjoyed the first one, I gave it :35k)

Here's my review:

First Look: Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland!" Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter but he suspiciously looks like red-headed Madonna HA!

(From left: Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter; Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen: Mia Wasikowska as Alice)

I can't wait for March 5, 2010 when Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" arrives in theaters. The trusty relationship between director and his muse, Depp, has always yielded great results!

Oh yeah, Anne Hathaway also co-stars as The White Queen.

For more "Alice in Wonderland" goodies, head on out to USA Today.

"Inkheart"

Once upon a time, many moons ago, author Cornelia Funke wrote her beloved best-selling book Inkheart with actor Brendan Fraser in mind. Funke pictured the character Mo with Fraser’s face and voice.

Almost six years later, the film version of the book arrives in theaters bearing Fraser’s marquee name.

But the question remains, is "Inkheart" worth your money? Or will fans of the book the only ones to love the film?

Before you watch my movie review, let me gently remind you to watch my "Inkheart" interviews with:

BRENDAN FRASER (Mo) AND ELIZA HOPE BENNET (Meggie)

PAUL BETTANY (Dustfinger)

DIRECTOR IAIN SOFTLEY

Now on to my review!
