As If It's a Big Surprise, "Toy Story 3" Ruled the World with $109 Million Opening!

Moviegoers played with "Toy Story 3" making the film the No. 1 movie in America! The third installment of the popular Disney/Pixar franchise made $109 million, joining "Shrek the Third" ($121.6 million) and "Shrek 2" ($108 million) as the three animated films to top $100 million in the first weekend.

"Toy Story 3's" box office performance gave Disney/Pixar its best debut, easily beating the $70.5 million opening for "The Incredibles."

Here's the estimated box office films for weekend of June 18th:

1. "Toy Story 3," $109 million -- Okay, let's just leave it at that okay? No more "Toy Story 4" Disney/Pixar and create something new and fresh that will equal the magic of the "Toy Story" franchise. (Check out my review of "Toy Story 3" right here)

2. "The Karate Kid," $29 million -- sadly, a sequel is being planned right now. Remember the fate of the last two "Karate Kid" films from the 80s? Yeah, we forgot about them! (Check out my "Karate Kid" review right here)

3. "The A-Team," $13.8 million -- I still love you! (Check out my review of "The A-Team" right here)

4. "Get Him to the Greek," $6.1 million -- I still love you too! (Check out my review of "Get Him to the Greek" right here)

5. "Shrek Forever After," $5.5 million -- um, make sure this is the final chapter. (Check out my interview with Walt Dohrn aka Rumpelstiltskin -- my favorite of the new characters -- right here)

6. "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," $5.3 million -- Jake Gyllenhaal didn't exactly wow us with his turn as the Prince of Persia. (Check out my review of "Prince of Persia" right here)

7. "Killers," $5.1 million -- Killed!

8. "Jonah Hex," $5.09 million -- Dear Josh Brolin, sorry this film bombed, but I still love talking to you! Check out my fun interview with the actor right here.

9. "Iron Man 2," $2.7 million -- Wow, it seems like this film opened many moons ago! (Check out my "Iron Man 2" review right here)

10. "Marmaduke," $2.65 million -- This was dogged at the box-office!

Get Ready for "Plan 9 From Outer Space" in Glorious 3-D

I love, love, love "Plan 9 from Outer Space," the Ed Wood cinematic masterpiece that's been called by many party-poopers as the worst film ever made. Well, it is, but it's fun, and trippy, and head-scratchingly awful -- and those are words of compliment directed towards the brilliance of the angora sweater-wearing director!

Well, get ready to watch "Plan 9 from Outer Space" again, this time in full 3-D!

According to SciFiPulse, San Diego-based 3-D Production & Conversion studio PassmoreLab is in-charge of converting the film into full 3-D.

Greg Passmore, president of Passmore Lab told SciFiPulse:

“Being dubbed “worst ever” was the probably the best thing that ever happened to this film...That label started a cult following, where it gained a massive fan base, with me included. It may be known as the “worst movie”, but it’s about to get best conversion treatment available. I am delighted to convert the original film into 3D using our proprietary technology.”

The 3-D converted film will now be called "Plan 9 From Outer Space, Now In 3-D!" and will be seen in select US theaters later this summer. It will also be available on VOD.

Fantastic! You don't need to wear your angora sweater to watch this film.

Leonardo DiCaprio IS J. Edgar Hoover -- the Crossdressing Crime Fighter!

It has been widely speculated that Leonardo DiCaprio will step into J. Edgar Hoover's shoes, and perhaps, stockings and high heels, in the upcoming Clint Eastwood biopic of the FBI crime-fighter.

Now, our friends at Deadline Hollywood are saying that it's now confirmed -- DiCaprio will play Hoover.

"Milk" screenwriter, Dustin Lance Black, has written the script that follows Hoover’s career, from the founding of the FBI in 1935 to his long tenure as director of the crime-fighting organization that lasted until 1972 when he died.

Eastwood is also producing with Brian Grazer and Rob Lorenz through Imagine and Malpaso. Warner Bros. has put the film on fast track, faster than Hoover could put his wig on. :tongue
