The Fantastic Greta Gerwig Talks About FRANCES HA, Gives One of the Most Affecting Performances of the Year!
Greta Gerwig gives one of the most affecting performances this year in Noah Baumbach’s “Frances Ha.” The actress also co-wrote the film with her “Greenberg” director. Frances is a contradiction of sorts – she lives in New York but doesn’t have an apartment; she is an apprentice for a dance company but she’s not really a dancer. She has not fulfilled her dreams yet but she’s hopeful and equally joyful. “Frances Ha” is a thoughtful character study on ambition and failure and eventually, redemption.
In this interview, we talked about:
What made her want to not just star in the film but co-wrote it as well
Is the character a big autogbiographical?
The film’s French New Wave feel
The fantastic soundtrack
The innocence of her character -- Frances
We can all identify with Frances

Godzilla is visiting Hawaii for the latest movie incarnation of the beloved monster. According to HuffPost, Oahu will serve as the backdrop this summer for the new "Godzilla" movie from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures. Filming will begin in July.
Godzilla himself will not be present though since he will be computer-generated.
The film has been in production since March 18 in Vancouver, British Columbia. British director Gareth Edwards ("Monsters") is at the helm from a script written by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callahan.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston star. But here's the big question -- will this new "Godzilla" be better than the 1998 version starring Matthew Broderick? That movie was horrible!

Lee Daniels, the guy who gave us the Oscar-winning "Precious," returns with a possible Academy Award contender with "The Butler." It tells the true-life story of Eugene Allen (Forest Whitaker), the White House's head butler who served eight presidents from 1952 to 1986.
It almost has a "Forrest Gump" vibe to it.
The Weinstein Company is releasing "The Butler" on August 16th. Oprah Winfrey co-stars as the butler's wife. But wait, there's more! This star-studded extravaganza also feature John Cusack, Jane Fonda, Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Robin Williams, Melissa Leo, James Marsden, Alan Rickman, Vanessa Redgrave, Lenny Kravitz, David Oleyowo, Minka Kelly, Liev Schreiber, Jesse Williams, Clarence Williams III and Mariah Carey. Wow!

Check Out the Funny "The Food Ditty" From Our "Final Destination 5" Friends -- Emma Bell and Ellen Wroe
Previously, I interviewed the lovely ladies Emma Bell and Ellen Wroe for "Final Destination 5." This was in 2011.
Then, in 2012, both fun actresses created a Kickstarter campaign to create their passion -- a spoof of rap/jazz/R & B parody mocking the "dichotomous viewpoints of the American health food craze and obesity obstacle." They called it "The Food Ditty." Back then, they said, "It will be a quirky, quaint and quite idiosyncratic video much in the vein of Ellen's first spoof rap video, The Gatorade Rap."
Well, they were successful in raising $15,000 for their project, and they recently unveiled "The Food Ditty" on FunnyorDie.com! They were even featured on the home page of the comedy site! Yay!
Congrats to Emma and Ellen otherwise known as Smellen Wroe

A Will Smith movie that didn't open at No. 1? Impossible! For nearly two decades, Will Smith has held the Summer Movie King crown...but not this season. "After Earth," produced by Smith and wife Jada and starring their baby boy Jaden underperformed at the box-office. The sci-fi flick directed by M. Night Shyamalan was predicted to at least make about $35 to $40 million, similar to Tom Cruise's "Oblivion," but alas, it debuted at No. 3 with $27 million.
The worst part? Its budget was $130 million. With bad reviews and so-so word of mouth (it received a CinemaScore of B), it would take the entire world to rally together to help Smith and his family. "After Earth" must do great business overseas for Sony to recoup the budget.
Meanwhile, "Now You See Me," a smaller film from Summit Entertainment, beat Smith and company. The cat-and-mouse thriller featuring Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine debuted at No. 2 with $28.05 million. (Click the names to see my full "Now You See Me" interviews -- Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco)
Compared to "After Earth," "Now You See Me" cost $75 million to produce, and received a high A- CinemaScore. The group of magicians in the film need not steal money to recoup its budget! ("Now You See Me" movie review)
Holding steady at No. 1 was Universal's "Fast & Furious 6" which dropped 65 percent with a still-healthy $34.5 million showing. It's the franchise that won't die!
Tied for 4th place are Fox's "Epic" and Paramount's "Star Trek Into Darkness" with $16.4 million a piece. Rounding out the Top 5 was "The Hangover Part III" with $15.9 million.
Entering into the Top 10 was the Bollywood film "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani." It made $1.6 million in 162 theaters for the No. 8 position.
Here's the estimated Top 10 box-office films for the weekend of May 31st:
1. "Fast & Furious 6," $34.5 million
2. "Now You See Me," $28.05 million.
3. "After Earth," $27 million.
4. (tie) "Epic," $16.4 million.
4. (tie) "Star Trek: Into Darkness," $16.4 million.
6. "The Hangover Part III," $15.9 million.
7. "Iron Man 3," $8 million.
8. "The Great Gatsby," $6.3 million.
9. "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani," $1.6 million.
10. "Mud," $1.2 million.
