We all enjoyed "Mean Girls," the 2004 hit starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert. And now, we're in for a treat as New Line Cinema is preparing for the sorta, quasi-sequel to be called "Mean Moms."
It kinda makes sense right? The mean girls are now grown-up and they became mean moms.
Deadline is reporting that the studio has hired Beth McCarthy-Miller ("Saturday Night Live") to adapt Rosalind Wiseman's "Queen Bee Moms And King Pin Dads: Dealing With The Parents, Teachers, Coaches, and Counselors Who Can Make — or Break — Your Child’s Future." Her 2002 book "Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence" was the basis of the "Mean Girls" film.
The follow-up explores what happens to Queen Bees and Wannabes when they grow up. Here's a description of the book from Amazon:
Even the most well-adjusted moms and dads can experience peer pressure and conflicts with other adults that make them act like they’re back in seventh grade. In Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads, Rosalind Wiseman gives us the tools to handle difficult situations involving teachers and other parents with grace. Reassuring, funny, and unfailingly honest, Wiseman reveals:
• Why PTA meetings and Back-to-School nights tap into parents’ deepest insecurities
• How to recognize the archetypal moms and dads—from Caveman Dad to Hovercraft Mom
• How and when to step in and step out of your child’s conflicts with other children, parents, teachers, or coaches
• How to interpret the code phrases other parents use to avoid (or provoke) confrontation
• Why too many well-meaning dads sit on the sidelines, and how vital it is that they step up to the plate
• What to do and say when the playing field becomes an arena for people to bully and dominate other kids and adults
• How to have respectful yet honest conversations with other parents about sex and drugs when your values are in conflict
• How the way you handle parties, risky behavior, and academic performance affects your child
• How unspoken assumptions about race, religion, and other hot-button subjects sabotage parents’ ability to work together
Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads is filled with the kind of true stories that made Wiseman’s New York Times bestselling book Queen Bees & Wannabes impossible to put down. There are tales of hardworking parents with whom any of us can identify, along with tales of outrageously bad parents—the kind we all have to reckon with. For instance, what do you do when parents donate a large sum of money to a school and their child is promptly transferred into the honors program–while your son with better grades doesn’t make the cut? What about the mother who helps her daughter compose poison-pen e-mails to yours? And what do you say to the parent-coach who screams at your child when the team is losing? Wiseman offers practical advice on avoiding the most common parenting “land mines” and useful scripts to help you navigate difficult but necessary conversations.
Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads is essential reading for parents today. It offers us the tools to become wiser, more relaxed parents–and the inspiration to speak out, act according to our values, show humility, and set the kind of example that will make a real difference in our children’s lives.
"Mean Moms" will be produced by Jill Messick with Offspring Entertainment. We'll see if McCarthy-Miller's script will be as inspired as Tina Fey's script for "Mean Girls."

It's great to be Liam Neeson! According to Deadline, the actor is set to receive, are you ready, $20 million to reprise his role as Bryan Mills, the ballsy retired CIA agent who rescued his daughter from sex slavery in France. Neeson was hesitant to star in the first sequel but was goaded with $15 million. So now, EuropaCorp is giving him a raise and is planning to start production in February.
Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen are currently working on the script but a director has not been set yet. Will Olivier Megaton, the last sequel's director, come back? And how much will EuropaCorp pay the daughter, Maggie Grace, and the ex-wife, Famke Jannsen, to return? I'm sure it won't be $20 million!
I enjoyed the first "Taken" but the sequel was horrible!!! I hope the threequel will be much better! With that paycheck, it better be worth it!

No, Channing Tatum will not steal the Wolverine title from Hugh Jackman but the actor is going to play a wolf-human hybrid for the Wachowskis' "Jupiter Ascending." Filming is underway right now and Tatum is co-starring with Mila Kunis. We told you back in April that "Jupiter" is about:
Being the Queen of the Universe! The Wachowski Siblings have started shooting the new sci-fi film "Jupiter Ascending" starring Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, Eddie Redmayne, Tuppence Middleton, Doona Bae, James D’Arcy, and Sean Bean.
Like a sci-fi twist on "Cinderella," Kunis stars as Jupiter Jones, Russian immigrant who scrubs toilets for a living but then discovers that she is next in line to be the Queen of the Universe! How quaint!
While promoting his upcoming action flick "White House Down," Tatum revealed to Movieline that he's a "splice" and they are "essentially built in a test tube. I'm a hybrid wolf and human. And half albino, so I'm a little defective."
The actor further revealed that Lana and Andy Wachowski are doing inventive work inside the camera and the CG world. Well, we were all mesmerized by "The Matrix" when it first came out, and a little bit for "Cloud Atlas" so I can't wait to see "Jupiter Ascending" when it comes out July 25, 2014.
Here's the full press release from Warner Bros. about the film:
Filming is underway on Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ “Jupiter Ascending,” an original science fiction epic adventure from filmmakers Lana and Andy Wachowski. Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis star in the film, which began shooting at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on April 2, 2013.
From the streets of Chicago to far flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” was conceived and written by the Wachowskis, who are also directing. Award-winning producer Grant Hill, with whom the writer/directors have collaborated since “The Matrix” Trilogy, is producing the film together with the Wachowskis. Roberto Malerba and Bruce Berman are serving as executive producers.
Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along – her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.
Channing Tatum (“Magic Mike”) and Mila Kunis (“Oz the Great and Powerful”) lead an international cast that also includes Sean Bean (“The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy), Eddie Redmayne (“Les Misérables”), Douglas Booth (“LOL”), Tuppence Middleton (TV’s “The Lady Vanishes”), Doona Bae (“Cloud Atlas”), James D’Arcy (“Hitchcock”) and Tim Pigott-Smith (“Alice in Wonderland”).
Behind the scenes, “Jupiter Ascending” reunites the Wachowskis with their longstanding collaborators, who most recently worked with them on “Cloud Atlas.” They include Oscar®-winning cinematographer John Toll (“Braveheart,” “Legends of the Fall”); production designer Hugh Bateup; editor Alexander Berner; costume designer Kym Barrett; and makeup and hair designer Jeremy Woodhead. “Jupiter Ascending” will showcase the kind of cutting-edge visual effects that have become the benchmarks of the Wachowskis’ films. Dan Glass (“Batman Begins,” “Cloud Atlas”) is the film’s visual effects supervisor, a post he has occupied for the Wachowskis since “The Matrix” Trilogy. Additionally, John Gaeta, the visual effects Oscar® winner behind “The Matrix,” is contributing to the visual effects design.
The production will remain in the UK at the studios through June, at which time filming will move to Chicago for completion.
“Jupiter Ascending” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.
