The last time I spoke with Melissa McCarthy was for her super-hit comedy “Bridesmaids.” Back then, she was laughing because I was bowing down on the would-be Oscar-nominated actress. And she deserves to be bowed down to. In her new movie “Tammy,” the funny actress was multi-tasking to the core co-writing the movie with her husband, Ben Falcone (who also directs), producing, and of course, acting as a woman-child who must grow up, pronto!
I enjoyed the character-driven comedy and I’ve been telling everyone that it will give you an explosion of laughter for 4th of July! In this interview, we talked about her interest in making “Tammy,” working with the iconic actresses Kathy Bates and Susan Sarandon, and what would be on her playlist if she takes a road trip.

Yes folks, she’s my other love! In one day, I was able to interview my film goddesses Kathy Bates and Susan Sarandon, and now, I’m complete. Well, not quite. There are more film goddesses I want to interview. But I had a great time talking to Susan Sarandon, the Oscar-winning actress from “Dead Man Walking” and many iconic films such as “Thelma & Louise,” and of course, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” And in Tammy, Sarandon is in full comedic mode and she nearly stole the show as Melissa McCarthy’s hard-partying grandma who’s using her car and cash so Tammy (McCarthy) will take her on a road trip to Niagara Falls.
In this interview, we talked about her interest in making “Tammy,” her Louise character could have been all grown up now as Pearl in the movie, working with McCarthy, her heartbreaking scene near the end, and her favorite songs to put on her playlist.

I love, love, love Kathy Bates! The respected Oscar-winning actress is a delight and super down-to-earth in person! In the movie, she plays an LGBT member with a committed relationship to Sandra Oh’s character. She’s the voice of reason in “Tammy” as the cousin of Pearl, wonderfully played by Susan Sarandon.
In this interview, we talked about her interest in making “Tammy,” working with Melissa McCarthy, Prop 8, her chemistry with Oh, and what would be on her playlist.

Ben Falcone was a glutton for punishment. Not only did he co-write “Tammy,” he also directed the film (his first full-feature directing assignment), and starred as Melissa McCarthy’s evil boss. Oh, and he’s also McCarthy’s husband! He has many titles in the movie that it’s almost a miracle that he pulled it off! I quite enjoyed “Tammy!”
I sat down with Falcone to talk about the genesis of the character-driven comedy, working with McCarthy, and what would be on the soundtrack of his life.

Gary Cole and Mark Duplass play father and son in the new dramedy “Tammy.” Cole is the hard-partying daddy named Earl and Duplass is the caring son. I enjoyed the funny road trip film starring Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon, directed by McCarthy’s husband Ben Falcone. In this interview, we talked about their interest in their characters, working with Sarandon and McCarthy, and what would be on their playlist. Have fun!
