The dark side of the human spirit is explored in “The Dark Knight,” the sequel from the brilliant mind of director Christopher Nolan. From the Joker’s (Heath Ledger) diabolical master plan to Batman’s (Christian Bale) undying quest to protect Gotham City, the film digs deeper into the twisted psyche of humanity. The end result catapults “The Dark Knight” into an esteemed territory – one of the best films of the year.
This unpredictable sequel succeeds in improving on the original film, “Batman Begins.” Except for Katie Holmes, the original cast is back for this dark morality play. Bale returns as Batman and his alter-ego Bruce Wayne. This time, he finally meets his match – the Joker. Read More...

Films coming out this weekend solidify my beliefs for the magic of cinema! Two big movies from two different genres are both entertaining and stirring.
"The Dark Knight," a comic book adaptation in nature, is a thought-provoking action adventure, while "Mamma Mia," a musical based on the hit Broadway show, is just pure fun!
Witness Meryl Streep sing her heart out as the mother of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), a vivacious young woman who's about to get married. Sophie's main dream (as she sings "I Have a Dream" with the moonlit Greek isle as a backdrop) is to know who her real dad is, so she invited all the 3 men in her mom's life -- each a possible father contender. I can imagine Keanu as Plastic Man can't you? He's tall, limber, and ultimately bendable. But wait, this rumor gets better, the film is supposed to be directed by Keanu's "The Matrix" buds, the Wachowski Bros.
According to CHUD :
A reader by the name of Ballack writes in from Berlin (one of my favorite cities in the world!) saying that Joel Silver was on German radio recently talking about Ninja Assassin, the James McTeigue-directed, Wachowski-produced martial arts movie. Ballack claims that Silver also spilled the beans on what the Wachowskis would be directing to follow-up Speed Racer - Plastic Man.
It gets better, trust me. Read More...

Doesn't it look great? Universal spent time and money setting up the Terracota Army for today's "The Mummy" festivities in Los Angeles.
And so I took advantage of it, and did my little intros and outros.
I also interviewed Brendan Fraser, Maria Bello, director Rob Cohen, Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh, Luke Ford, and Isabella Leong.
I had a great time!
I will post my interviews very soon! I promise!

Director Guillermo del Toro's "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" caught box-office fire to emerge as the No. 1 film. The supernatural action adventure pulled in $35.9 million and debuted at the top spot!
Previous box-office winner, Will Smith's "Hancock" slipped to second place with $33 million.
Opening at No. 3 with $20.6 million was "Journey to the Center of the Earth," starring Brendan Fraser.
Meanwhile, the other new movie to open last weekend was "Meet Dave" starring Eddie Murphy in yet another film featuring him in multiple roles.
Murphy teamed up with his "Norbit" pals for this sci-fi comedy, and the result was abysmal. "Meet Dave" landed at No. 7 with a loud thump making just $5.3 million.
