REMAKE ALERT: THE FUTURE OF "ROBOCOP"

MGM announced today that they have signed Darren Aronofsky to direct and David Self to write a new installment for its ROBOCOP franchise.

According to the press release, Aronofsky, the director of The Fountain, and Self, the writer of Road to Perdition, make a formidable creative team, fast tracking the ROBOCOP motion picture and spotlighting it as one of the most anticipated new films for 2010.

The verdict is still out for this one. I love Aronofsky's Requiem for a Dream and Pi, but his The Fountain was a big misstep. But Self is a good screenwriter so there may be hope.

There's no word yet on who's going to play Mister Robocop himself.

"THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW" FOR THE MTV GENERATION!!!

Let's do the time warp again!

MTV is getting ready for a full-remake of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." The network is teaming up with Lou Adler, exec producer of the original film and Fox Television Studios on this new rendition.

According to Variety, the 2-hour remake will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien but may also include music not featured in the original.

No word on casting yet, but remember, the original worked because of Tim Curry, and they better hire an actor with much charisma and chutzpah to pull this remake off!
