Who's Directing "Predators?"

Nimrod Antal is set to direct "Predators" for producer Robert Rodriguez.

This marks the 5th incarnation of the "Predator" franchise. The first one starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, then "Predator 2," then "Alien vs. Predator" and "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem." And then the franchise died.

Until Rodriguez resurrected the franchise and attached Antal with it.

Antal is great at establishing the mood of his films. His best one still though is the Hungarian drama "Kontroll." "Vacancy" was just okay, but I did enjoy the mood and the claustrophobic atmosphere. His upcoming film "Armored" seems like a good movie, at least based on the trailer.

"The Green Hornet" Gets New Release Date!

Sony has switched up its 2010 slate. Now, "The Green Hornet" starring Seth Rogen and Stephen Chow is set for release on July 9, 2010. It was scheduled for release on June 25.

Meanwhile, to imitate Warner's success with "The Hangover," Sony is releasing its buddy comedy starring Adam Sandler called "Grown Ups" in the summertime. Initially slated for a March opening, "Grown Ups" is now set to open in the middle of summer, much like "The Hangover."

But there are other interesting films set to open during the June-July window next year. Some of them are:

"Twilight Saga: The Eclipse" -- June 30
"The Last Airbender" -- July 2
"Despicable Me" -- July 9
"Predators" -- July 9

It will be an interesting time at the box-office. No one can doubt the power of a "Twilight" movie, and M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender" is getting major buzz. Meanwhile, we have to wait and see for Universal's cartoon "Despicable Me" and the Robert Rodriguez sci-fi reboot "Predators."

"Asteroids" the Movie!

Remember the Atari classic "Asteroids?" Well, Universal Pictures has won, yes won, the bidding to turn this vintage game into a big-screen project!

Apparently, Universal beat Fox and Sony.

Hhhmmm, lots of interest to make this 1979 game into a movie?

Scribe Matt Lopez ("Race to Witch Mountain," "Bedtime Stories") is attached to write the script.

I wonder what kind of narrative is Lopez going to come up with? Stay tuned.
