Brett Ratner to Direct "Hercules?"

The remake of "Clash of the Titans" made gazillion dollars, "Prince of Persia" was a huge hit overseas, so it's just a matter of time before the tale of the swords-and-sandals mythological god, Hercules, becomes a big-screen adventure. And the LA Times is reporting that Brett Ratner is in talks to direct for Avi Lerner and his Millennium/Nu Image production.

Is Ratner a good choice to helm the film? Well, it's not like both "Clash of the Titans" and "Prince of Persia" were Oscar contenders with dense storytelling, so Ratner will be just fine.

Here's more info on the film from Yahoo:

Dom Cobb is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible -- inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. "Inception" Movie Review -- How Many Kisses Do Leonardo DiCaprio and Christopher Nolan Get?

When I first interviewed writer-director Christopher Nolan for “The Prestige,” he struck me as a very intelligent man. So who best to architect a film about the mysteries of the human mind than Nolan himself.

“Inception” is a high concept movie that could easily fall into pieces at the hands of a less-skilled director. Produced, written, and directed by Nolan, “Inception” is easily one of the best films this summer, possibly this year. Read More...

"Winter's Bone" Movie Review! See Why I'm Calling This One of the Year's Best!

“Winter’s Bone” arrives in theaters just in the nick of time during a blockbuster summer movie season when vampires and werewolves are hailed, while character and plot development are shunned. Harrowing and uplifting at the same time, I reckon “Winter’s Bone” will leave you in a permanent redemptive state.

At the heart of the movie is a strong performance from Jennifer Lawrence who was named one of the New York Times “50 People to Watch.” She stars as Ree Dolly, a 17 year-old who is wise beyond her years. Read More...

"Wicked" Defies Gravity, May Soon Become a Big-Screen Musical! Yay!

"Wicked," the movie based on the super-successful musical is one step closer to becoming a reality! According to Deadline Hollywood, "the musical's producer Marc Platt, book writer Winnie Holzman, and songwriter Stephen Schwartz have begun meeting with filmmakers."

And directors JJ Abrams, James Mangold, Ryan Murphy, and Rob Marshall are some of the helmers who have either met with the creators or have thrown their hat in the ring.

This is exciting news! I love "Wicked" and have always imagined the big screen version of it! But the big question, will Universal hire the musical's original stellar cast Idina Menzel (Elphaba) and Kristin Chenoweth (Galinda)?
