Director Jay Roach Interview for "Dinner for Schmucks"

I truly love talking to directors because they give tremendous insights to their films. In "Dinner for Schmucks," Jay Roach, the guy who gave us "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers," as well as all the "Austin Powers" films, talked about:

*** The conception of the film from its French roots (Francis Veber's "Les diner de cons") to the American version
*** Why Roach decided to add the mythological "dinner" that wasn't shown in the French version
*** Working with Steve Carell and Paul Rudd
*** The film subscribes to the "tragedy as comedy" notion
*** How the film follows French farce conventions such as mistaken identity, comedy of errors, non-verbal jokes
*** "Austin Powers 4" anyone?
*** If he's invited to a dinner for schmucks, what idiosyncrasy will be bring to the table?

"Dinner for Schmucks" Interview with Bruce Greenwood, Ron Livingston, and Larry Wilmore

I absolutely enjoyed "Dinner for Schmucks" from "Meet the Parents" director Jay Roach. The cast, headed by Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, is great! Here's my interview with Bruce Greenwood, who plays Rudd's boss in the film, Larry Fender, and his minions played by Ron Livingston and Larry Wilmore. (Check out my written review of "Dinner for Schmucks" right here)

Sony Gets the Meryl Streep-Tina Fey Comedy!

Three weeks ago, we told you this:

Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci made movie magic in "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Julie & Julia," now, the pair may reunite but this time, Tucci will be behind the camera.

According to the LA Times, Tucci will direct Streep and Tina Fey in a project tentatively titled "Mommy & Me." There's no script or writers attached yet, but this will be a mother-daughter dramedy.

The project is still being shopped around, but this has great potential. Imagine all the mothers and daughters flocking to the cinema to watch the comedic and dramatic fireworks unleashed by Streep and Fey!

Now, we know which studio landed this surefire hit! It's Sony according to The Hollywood Reporter. Congratulations and good luck!

Daniel Craig to Get "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"

Daniel Craig aka Mr. James Bond is officially joining Sony's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" according to The Hollywood Reporter. This can also mean that Craig has two potential follow-ups for the film based on the series of books by author Stieg Larsson.

David Fincher is set to direct the adaptation and Steve Zaillian is writing the script while Scott Rudin is producing. Craig will star in the Mikael Blomkvist role previously played by Michael Nyqvist in the Swedish versions (the second film, "The Girl Who Played With Fire" is now out in theaters).

But the big question -- Who should star in the role of Lisbeth Salander played by the fantastic Noomi Rapace in the Swedish versions?
