Check Out New "John Carter" Trailer! This One Looks Fantastic!
So, this is not a Pixar film, even though there are many Pixar folks attached. It's still a Disney production with Andrew Stanton making his first live-action film. You know him as the director of the brilliant "WALL-E." We'll know if Stanton is good with live-action as much as he's great with animation when "John Carter" opens March 9th of 2012. Oh yeah, Disney dropped the "of Mars" from the title too!

Here's more info on "John Carter"

War-weary, former military captain John Carter is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris. In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

Also Known As:
A Princess of Mars
John Carter of Mars

Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are Bringing "Evil Dead" Back to Life!

"The Evil Dead" is being resurrected.

Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are infusing life back into the iconic 80s horror flick. Raimi got his start in the movie industry writing and directing the original 1981 film, and Campbell starred in the movie (and the sequels) as Ash.

Both actor and director are teaming up with original "Dead" producer Rob Tapert for Ghost House according to The Hollywood Reporter.

And Diablo Cody is revising the script.

But, Raimi is not directing the film. Both he and Campbell will produce the remake with Tapert. It's still unsure whether Campbell will star in the film.

So who is directing it?

No other Fede Alvarez, the South American filmmaker who gave us the brilliant short film "Panic Attack." (See below)

Alvarez also co-wrote the remake with Rodo Sayagues which Cody is revising.

I love "Evil Dead" and the sequel (not much of a fan of the third though, "Army of Darkness" but still...) and with Raimi and Campbell attached to produce, this should be a worthy remake.

As for Alvarez? Well, judging from his short film, he has the eye, ear, and spirit to pay homage to the original!

So I found his short film online, see for yourself! This is the ticket that got Alvarez his first big Hollywood job!

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" Movie Review! How Many Kisses Does Our Boy Wizard Get?

Watching the final film in the “Harry Potter” franchise is bittersweet. No other motion picture series had ever followed a single, linear story involving the same characters over the course of eight full-length movies. Sadly, it all ends here.

What we have left is a brilliant franchise which has been consistent in giving us quality filmmaking since the very first film, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” With the eight and final movie, the boy who lived has now come to die. Read More...

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" Continues to Rule Box-Office, "Horrible Bosses" Opens Strong

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" maintained its No. 1 position in its second weekend with $47 million. But wait there's more! The sci-fi adventure starring Shia LaBeouf is now the top film of 2011 crushing "The Hangover Part II." So far, the Michael Bay flick has made $261 million in the domestic box-office, while its international take was at $384 million. ("Transformers: Dark of the Moon" movie review)

Meanwhile, opening at No. 2 was the Warner Bros. comedy "Horrible Bosses" starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis. The funny film opened with strong $28.1 million. ("Horrible Bosses" movie review)

Not having a great weekend was Sony Pictures. The studio's family flick, "Zookeeper" starring Kevin James, only managed a $21 million opening. Now, that's not bad, but with a budget of $80 million, it would take a while before Sony recoup its money.

Here's the estimated Top 10 box-office list for the weekend of July 8th:

1. "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," $47 million ($93 million international).

2. "Horrible Bosses," $28.1 million.

3. "Zookeeper," $21 million ($7.5 million international).

4. "Cars 2," $15.2 million ($26.9 million international).

5. "Bad Teacher," $9 million.

6. "Larry Crowne," $6.3 million.

7. "Super 8," $4.8 million ($2.5 million international).

8. "Monte Carlo," $3.8 million.

9. "Green Lantern," $3.1 million.

10. "Mr. Popper's Penguins," $2.9 million.
