"The Conjuring" Movie Review -- Could This Be The Scariest Movie This Year?

Another week, another scary movie. This one’s a bit different! It’s called “The Conjuring” and it’s not your typical run-of-the-mill horror movie. Directed by James Wan (“Insidious,” “Saw”) and based on actual events, the film tells the tale of two couples – first, we have Patrick Wilson as Ed Warren and Vera Farmiga as his trance medium wife Lorraine. They’re paranormal investigators that are about to get caught in the most terrifying cases of their lives.

Set in 1971 in Harrisville, Rhode Island, the Warrens meet the Perrons. There’s Carolyn (the always wonderful Lili Taylor), and Roger (Ron Livingston). Together with their kids, they just moved to a big but mysterious farmhouse. And then…you guessed it, things go bump in the night!

So is “The Conjuring” worth your time and money? Take a look:

Happy 5th Anniversary to the Awesomeness Known as "The Dark Knight!"

I can't believe it's been five years already since we saw the fantastic "The Dark Knight." The seminal movie from writer/director Christopher Nolan has left an indelible impact in pop culture and film history when it was released on July 18th of 2008, and I believe, it's still the best superhero movie to date!

Nolan has effectively mixed drama and action with a tinge of dark comedy to come up with a movie that questions the very essence of being a superhero.

Not only was the film a huge commercial success for Warner Bros. (more than $1 billion and the title of the "highest grossing opening weekend" in movie history), it was also critically well-received and forever changed the face of the Academy. Many insiders were saying that the Academy changed the way the members vote for Best Picture to accommodate big action flicks like "The Dark Knight."

I remember driving to Universal Studios for the press screening of the movie -- 3 hours of driving and I didn't care -- and once we got to the theater, I waited 2 1/2 hours before going to the restroom to tinkle. I couldn't leave the film to go potty -- I didn't want to miss a thing!

The second film in Nolan's Batman trilogy also gave us the fantastic Heath Ledger in his Oscar-winning role as the Joker. The actor truly immersed himself in the role! Earlier this year, thanks to our friends at HuffPost, a journal by the actor from the "vantage point of the Joker" has surfaced. See the video of the diary below taken from a German documentary:

Before Comic-Con: Sony Unveils New "Amazing Spider-Man 2" Teaser -- Meet Electro!

This Friday, Sony's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is going to invade Comic-Con but the studio has unleashed a new teaser trailer introducing the villain Electro, played by Jamie Foxx.

Foxx is Max Dillon, a mild-mannered "nobody" who idolizes Spider-Man who becomes Electro after being struck by lightning. And then, he becomes a bluish character in the mode of "Avatar" or "The Smurfs!" HA! :happy

I'm sure more "Spider-Man" goodness will come your way by Friday, but for now, enjoy this teaser featuring...Electro!
