Steven Spielberg Wants to Remake a Classic

Yes folks, Steven Spielberg is setting his sights on John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" according to Deadline. Spielberg and DreamWorks are in talks with the Steinbeck estate to buy the film rights to the author's beloved 1939 novel. John Ford made a memorable 1940 adaptation of the novel starring Henry Fonda as Tom Joad. Ford won an Oscar for his work on the film.

Spielberg will not be winning a Best Director Oscar for his adaptation of the novel. He will act merely as a producer on the movie. But hey, if the movie is good, then Spielberg gets to take home a Best Picture Oscar.

Sorry "50 Shades of Grey" Fans won't be having your Christian Grey anytime soon.

Fans have been wanting to know who will play the film's leads -- Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

And if you think you'll hear this news at Comic-Con (Which is odd right? A sex-infused novel cum movie inside the world's biggest comic book convention), think again! According to E L James, author of "50 Shades," you just have to keep on waiting. The author tweeted:

I dunno where this rumour started that the cast would be revealed at Comic Con...but it is just that - a rumour. (Sighs)

So there you's just a rumor! Just keep on guessing for now. The film's director, Sam Taylor-Johnson ("Nowhere Boy"), was also mum about casting. But one thing we know for sure, "50 Shades of Grey" the movie will be released in theaters on August 1, 2014.

More Trouble for "White House Down"

So we all know that "White House Down" flopped on its debut, earning a disappointing $24.8 million on a reported $150 million budget! Yikes! But now, the action flick starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx is facing more drama.

This time it's from the conservative right.

"White House Down" just can't get a break.

According to THR, conservatives were celebrating the film's low debut.

In the movie, Foxx stars as our president who must take a stand after a group of old, white conservative politicians become unhappy with the POTUS decision to withdraw troops from the Middle East.

Everyone from to called the movie liberal propaganda. Christian Toto, conservative reviewer for Brietbart accused director Roland Emmerich of "dumping ideological sludge atop his bloated disaster films."

Maybe Toto was talking about Emmerich's "2012?" Certainly not about "10,000 B.C." Or maybe the global warming cautionary fable "The Day After?"

Sorry Christian Bale/Batman Fans But...

Christian Bale will not appear as Batman in any upcoming "Justice League" movie. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor said that he's done wearing the Batman costume.

Yet, if Christopher Nolan comes up with a brilliant idea for "The Dark Knight 4," Bale may rethink his position. But the actor says he's not involved with any "Justice League" talks, at least for now. ”I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it.”

Here's what we know. When I sat down and interviewed "Man of Steel" director Zack Snyder, he said that it's a trickle down effect. If "Man of Steel" makes money, then "Justice League" could soon follow. Well, we all know that "Man of Steel" continues to fly high at worldwide box-office, so we should get very excited for a "Justice League" film. Who doesn't want to see Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern fight evil together?

If Bale returns as Batman for "Justice League," it will be a plus! Can you imagine "The Avengers" without Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man? Oh yeah, Downey Jr. also famously said that he won't be back as Iron Man for the "Avengers" sequel. But, look! He's back! And with more money! Maybe Bale is copying his ploy?

Regardless, Bale is happy to pass Batman's costume to a new actor: “It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”

We too but we love you as Batman!

Sorry "Hobbit" Fans But...

"The Desolation of Smaug" is NOT headed to Comic-Con. Awwww....

According to director Peter Jackson via Facebook, "The Hobbit 2" is still in production and the cast and crew will not be available for the biggest fan convention in the world! And truth be told, I like Jackson's reasoning -- he just wants to make a good movie!

And rightfully so! The first one was just eh, here's hoping the second one will make the movie buff in me happy!

Here's Jackson taking us inside the production of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug." Plus, his explanation on why they will not have Comic-Con presence this year:
