Minions attack theaters near you and they are ready to dominate the world BUT, is their movie worth seeing? See my movie review of “Minions” below:
Here’s the official “Minions” synopsis:
The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's Minions begins at the dawn of time. Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters-from T. rex to Napoleon-the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression. But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he-alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob-ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow. The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award (R) winner Sandra Bullock), the world's first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind...from annihilation. (c) Universal

And I love it! The teasing part that is...
But after teasing us, “Magic Mike XXL” is finally here! But is it as good as the first? Channing Tatum returns, as well as Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez, and Gabriel Iglesias. Original director Steven Soderbergh chose not to helm and gave the reins to Gregory Jacobs. See if the sequel is hotter, bigger, and better than the first!
Here’s the official “Magic Mike XXL” synopsis:
Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, "Magic Mike XXL" finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways. “Max,” the movie about a heroic dog, arrives in theaters this weekend but is the movie good? And is it worth your time and money? One thing is certain, it will tug at your heartstrings.
Here’s the official synopsis for MAX:
A military dog from Afghanistan is adopted by his late handler's grieving family in the U.S., where his close bond with the soldier's brother leads to a life-altering revelation in this family-friendly adventure from MGM and director Boaz Yakin (who penned the screenplay alongside writer Sheldon Lettich). ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Two big movies this weekend, we have “Inside Out” for the entire family and “Dope” for those who love dramedies. Which one is my pick of the week? Take a look:
Here’s the official synopsis of INSIDE OUT:
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions - Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school. -- (C) Pixar
Here’s the official synopsis of DOPE:
A critical hit and audience favorite out of the Sundance Film Festival, in DOPE, Malcolm (Shameik Moore) is carefully surviving life in a tough neighborhood in Los Angeles while juggling college applications, academic interviews, and the SAT. A chance invitation to an underground party leads him into an adventure that could allow him to go from being a geek, to being dope, to ultimately being himself. (C) Open Road

Shameik Moore takes the lead in the fantastic film DOPE and he carries the movie from start to finish! He plays Malcolm, an outsider in his city of Inglewood buoyed by the support of his friends Jib (Tony Revolori) and Diggy (Kiersey Clemons). Watch his amazing performance when the film opens nationwide on Friday, June 19th!
I sat down with Moore and writer/director Rick Famuyiwa (“The Wood,” “Brown Sugar”) to talk about their Sundance-winning movie.
