Are You Tired of Movie Logos?

You know the drill. You sit down, armed with buttery popcorn, and you're assaulted with mega trailers first (don't get me wrong, I love watching trailers, sometimes, it's the best part of your movie-watching experience), then fade to black.

You see the familiar studio logo.

You think the movie is about to begin.

But wait...there's more!

And more.

And more!

By the time the movie finally begins, you've sat through watching 6 or 8 or 10 movie studio logos!

What gives?

There's a great article here examining our current "movie logo" culture. Read, and weep, until the next time you're in your favorite multiplex only to experience movie-logo watching over and over and over again. :happy

John Lennon -- The Movie!!!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the John Lennon biopic is coming together nicely, thank you very much!

From the production company that brought us "Becoming Jane" and "Brideshead Revisited," comes "Nowhere Boy," a film that will focus on the Beatle's childhood and subsequent journey to icon status.

Filming of the script written by "Control's" Matt Greenhalgh is set to take place on location in Lennon's hometown of Liverpool.

It's kind of interesting that the filmmakers will take a closer look at Lennon's relationship with the women in his life. They are saying that "The women in John's early life truly shaped who he became."

Prepare for some Yoko Ono sighting!

"Facebook" the Movie?

(pictured: Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder)

The fantastic Aaron Sorkin ("West Wing" creator), one of Hollywood's biggest writers, is about to write a film about the founders of Facebook!

I've always known there's drama behind the scenes. Have you read the Rolling Stone article, The Battle for Facebook?

If not, here it is, read it in awe!

Well, Sorkin opened up his Facebook account for research!

"I understand there are a few other people using Facebook pages under my name -- which I find more flattering than creepy -- but this is me. I don't know how I can prove that but feel free to test me," he wrote before going on to talk about the movie project.

"I figured a good first step in my preparation would be finding out what Facebook is, so I've started this page. (Actually it was started by my researcher, Ian Reichbach, because my grandmother has more Internet savvy than I do and she's been dead for 33 years.)"

Director Christopher Nolan Talks about "Batman 3"

There are many rumors surrounding a possible "Batman 3." Is Angelina Jolie going to be Catwoman? What about Cher? Oh, what about Johnny Depp as the Riddler?

Well, The Hollywood Reporter has caught up with Director Christopher Nolan, and here's what the article revealed:

Take a second and Google "Angelina Jolie" and "Catwoman." Then click on one of the 696,000 search results for a taste of the fervor that has enveloped "The Dark Knight" and its director. Nolan hasn't even agreed to helm a follow-up, saying only, "We'll see," before departing on a well-deserved vacation. Yet the fans who powered Warners' biggest domestic hit ever ($491.7 million and counting) are already speculating breathlessly based on the little information known. Will Lucius Fox's (Morgan Freeman) reference to the bat suit withstanding cat claws be put to the test by Catwoman? Since Heath Ledger's Joker was hauled off to the insane asylum rather than killed, will the role be recast?

If so, is Daniel Day-Lewis interested? How about Johnny Depp as the Riddler? The devotion is a testament to Nolan's singular vision of the Batman universe -- and to how important it is to Warner Bros. that chief Alan Horn sign Nolan for a third go-round. And perhaps Jolie.

Oh well...
