"Saw" Director Wants to Set Date for "11 11 11"

"2012" worked wonders at the box-office, so why not make a movie titled "11 11 11?" Apparently, there's a numerological phenomenon about 11:11, where (Wiki):

Numerologists believe that events linked to the time 11:11 appear more often than chance or coincidence.[1] This belief is related to the concept of synchronicity.[2] Other authors believe it is an auspicious sign,[3] and others that it signals a spirit presence.[4][5] The belief that it has mystical powers has been adopted by believers in New Age philosophies.[6] However, skeptics say that Uri Geller's examples of 11:11 phenomenon in world events are examples of post-hoc reasoning[7] and confirmation bias.[8]

Now, "Saw" director (he directed numerous "Saw" films), Darren Lyn Bousman (pictured above) is partnering with producer Wayne Rice for the film according to The Hollywood Reporter.

So when will the supernatural flick open? Well, Nov. 11, 2011, of course!

Bousman is also writing the script which whill focus on the 11 gates of Heaven "and how on 11:11 on the 11th day of the 11th month, the 11th gate will open up and something from another world will enter the earthly realm for 49 minutes." (Source: The Hollywood Reporter)

Okay, hopefully, character development of the film will be longer than 49 minutes!

Have You Heard of "Cobra -- the Space Pirate?" It Will Be a Sci-Fi Extravaganza from "Piranha 3D" Director

So apparently, "Cobra -- the Space Pirate" is a big deal! It's a Japanese manga from Buichi Terasawa that became an animated series and very popular in Europe. According to Deadline Hollywood, "Piranha 3D" director, Alexandre Aja, who grew up loving the series, wants to turn it into a big-screen adventure.

So what is "Cobra -- the Space Pirate" about? A quick Wiki trip reveals:

"The series follows the adventures of Cobra who lived an ordinary life until enemies started to hunt him down. Cobra surgically alters his face, and erases his own memory to hide from his enemies. Cobra starts to regain his memories and then unites with his old partner Lady Armaroid and his ship Tortuga. Later in his adventures, Cobra meets the Royal sisters whose map-tattoos lead to treasure."

Aja has been granted the rights by Terasawa and he is writing the script with Gregory Levasseur. This one will be far cry from Aja's previous horror flicks such as "The Hills Have Eyes," "Mirrors," and the upcoming "Piranha 3D." (Check out my interview with Elizabeth Shue for "Piranha 3D" right here)

Aja tells Deadline:

"I grew up dreaming about Cobra...My day was, finish school, run home and switch on the TV and I was hardly the only one. Kids did it in France, Italy, Spain, all over Western Europe. For many people there is Star Wars and nothing else, but for me and my writing partner Gregory, there is Star Wars and Cobra. I am so surprised it never crossed the ocean and made the same impact in the U.S., because it is so big everywhere else. There are 60 books, a lot of TV animation and so many adventures, pirates and bad guys that it is perfect to be reinvented into a really cool space opera adventure franchise for a new generation."

Aja clearly has passion for this project, so more power to him! Oh, and he wants to shoot and present this sci-fi project in digital 3D.
