Vanessa Hudgens Interview for "The Frozen Ground" -- I Love Her!

I just adore Vanessa Hudgens! Besides being a fellow Filipino (yay!), she's been very brave with her film choices lately. She was memorable in "Spring Breakers," and now, she's a revelation in the icy hot thriller "The Frozen Ground." She plays Cindy, a street-smart teenage prostitute, who helps Sgt. Jack Halcombe (Nicolas Cage) bring down the dangerous serial killer Robert Hansen (John Cusack). Based on true events, "The Frozen Ground" is out in theaters and on-demand on August 23.

In this interview, we talked about:

*** How she got interested in making "The Frozen Ground"
*** Did she meet the real-life Cindy?
*** How she prepared the rape scene?
*** The sweet moment with the moose!
*** Does she still speak our native tongue, Tagalog?

Maraming Salamat Po!

Nicolas Cage Interview for "The Frozen Ground" -- Explains his Character's Fictional Name

Meeting Nicolas Cage for the second time is a marvel. He's so larger than life that it's always intimidating, often amusing talking to the actor. I first met him for what I called the "gerbil" movie, "G-Force." And let me tell you, "The Frozen Ground" is miles away from that Disney flick.

In the true crime "The Frozen Ground," the Oscar-winning actor turned it down a notch for a subdued performance as Sgt. Jack Holcombe, a cop who will do anything to catch the real-life dangerous serial-killer, Robert Hansen (John Cusack). He must learn to trust and team up with a teenage prostitute (Vanessa Hudgens).

The icy-hot thriller will be released in theaters and on-demand on Aug. 23.

In this interview, we talked about:

*** What made him put his trust on writer/director Scott Walker, making his first full-feature film?
*** What got him interested in his character Jack Holcombe?
*** His acting in "The Frozen Ground" is more grounded, subdued, which is a welcome respite
*** Did he meet the real-life Glenn Floathe, the detective who caught Robert Hansen?
*** Why didn't he use the name Glenn Floathe in the movie?
*** Working with John Cusack again, this is not "Con Air!"
*** Working with Vanessa Hudgens
*** His passion for Superman, what does he think of "Man of Steel?"
*** I called him Jor-El, the father of Kal-El, HA!

My Take On the Overcrowded Box-Office Weekend -- "Planes," "Percy Jackson," "We're the Millers," "Elysium

Four big blockbusters arrive in theaters near you -- we have the animated "Planes," the fantasy-adventure "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters," the raunchy comedy "We're the Millers," and the sci-fi thriller "Elysium." But sometimes, big surprises come in small packages. And the small movie that I'm happy to review is Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine."

So which one is my pick of the week? Take a look:

Logan Lerman Talks About "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters"

Logan Lerman returns as the son of Poseidon in the sequel "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters." This time, he and his demigod friends has one mission -- to find the mythical Golden Fleece. I interviewed Lerman, who was so good in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," about his return to the magical world of Percy Jackson. We talked about:

*** What made him want to return to the role?
*** How did he do the jump from a small indie like "Perks" to a big blockbuster like "Percy?"
*** The film's attempt to play with Greek mythology
*** Percy's search for heroism
*** What does he want the fans to look forward to in the sequel?
*** His family's second home in my hood, Palm Springs!
