"Fame" Interviews with Cast Members Naturi Naughton and Asher Book

Truth be told, Naturi Naughton will be one of the few breakout stars from the "Fame" reboot. She plays Denise, a classical pianist with a dream. Alongside her is Asher Book as Marco, a singer/actor wannabe.

Kevin Tencharoen makes his feature film debut as a director working from a script by Allison Burnett ("Untraceable," "Resurrecting the Champ").

In our interview, Naturi and Asher talked about:

*** Their involvement with the film
*** Their characters
*** Irene Cara and Debbie Allen
*** The remake's history

Here you go and have fun!

'Fame,' with Asher Book, Paul McGill, Naturi Naughton, Kay Panabaker, Kherington Payne, Collins Pennie, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle. Get Ready for "Barbie" the Movie!

I almost choked while reading the story about Universal and Mattel in cahoots to give us a live-action film based on the plastic beauty known as Barbie!

Clearly, Universal wanted to match Dreamworks' luck with "Transformers" but come on y'all, giant robots will always win at the box-office compared to a spoiled blond beauty who loves to stay in her Malibu digs.

Where's the narrative drama to that plot?

Sure, the 50-year-old Barbie has 99% worldwide brand recognition, but that doesn't mean that brand awareness means good movie! I heard that the producers are going to canvass writers and decide on a creative take for a family-friendly movie. Can we just offer an advice and scrap the darn project?

Here's the bottom line: Barbie is so out-of-step with today's society that it's almost comical to think that her ideals are good enough to be put on the big screen. But hey, that's actually an interesting plot. An out-of-step Barbie trying to fit in...hhhmmm...

Also, who's going to star? Barbie is soooo perfect, we need a life-sized beauty to fill in her shoes. Oh yeah, what about these beauties from a Mac make-up shoot which was inspired by Barbie herself!

Or, if desperate enough, what about Ru Paul? :happy

Director David Cronenberg to Remake "The Fly"

David Cronenberg is in talks with Fox to reboot "The Fly." He wrote and directed the 1986 film starring Jeff Goldblum as scientist Seth Brundle who turned into a fly after a teleportation experiment goes awry. Geena Davis co-starred as Veronica, Brundle's love interest and partner.

The 1986 version was in itself a remake of the 1958 sci-fi classic from director Kurt Neumann with Vincent Price as François Delambre, the fly.

Why is Cronenberg interested in doing a remake of his own remake of a remake? Can't Hollywood be original anymore? The only answer I can come up with is the enhanced special effects available to Cronenberg now. But all the special effects in the world do not amount to nothing without a good script and direction; Yet as an experiment to see if he can top his own film, this plan is quite intriguing and interesting.

For now, take a look at the trailer of the 1986 film and let's hope Cronenberg gives us something better!

Stanley Tucci Goes "Burlesque" with Cher and Christina Aguilera

This is a movie we've been following closely since May (See Cher Joins Christina Aguilera in Musical "Burlesque" and Christina Aguilera to Star in Titillating Musical "Burlesque"). Why? Because it's being called "Showgirls" the Musical starring Cher and Christina Aguilera.

But I'm sure it's not going to be as campy as "Showgirls" gosh darn it!

Now, Stanley Tucci is joining Cher and Christina Aguilera in the film to be directed by Steve Antin.

Antin also wrote the script which was polished by Susannah Grant ("Erin Brockovich"! See? Not campy).

Aguilera will play an ambitious small town Iowa girl with a big voice who finds love, family and success in a Los Angeles burlesque club. Cher will play Tess, a former dancer who takes the small town girl under her wing. Tucci will star as the manager of the club and the best friend of Tess. And they will all sing and dance! :happy

Shooting begins Nov. 9 with a release date set for Thanksgiving next year.

"He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" the Movie Finds New Home

By the power of Grayskull -- Columbia Pictures has the power.

Two weeks ago, "He-Man" and Mattel parted ways with Warner Bros. (See Warner Bros. Bids Goodbye to "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe") Now, the toy company is in negotiations with Columbia Pictures to adapt "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" for the big screen.

When the property was under WB, John Stevenson was set to direct. Now, the director is no longer attached, and the project would be started from scratch.

Okay, this is cool and all, but what about She-Ra? :tongue
