Will Gore Verbinski Reteam with Johnny Depp for "The Lone Ranger?"

Gore Verbinski is in talks to return to the loving arms of his "Pirates of the Caribbean" megastar, Johnny Depp, for "The Lone Ranger" according to Deadline. This will also mark Verbinski's return to Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Depp is set to star as Tonto.

No word yet on the production start date, or who will play The Lone Ranger. But the trio of Depp, Bruckheimer, and Verbinski should seal this deal and help the project move forward.

Who Wants to be the Next "Superman" director? Darren Aronofsky Maybe?

Darren Aronofsky, currently getting major Oscar buzz for "Black Swan," is the latest director to join the "Superman" bandwagon. Producer Christopher Nolan is conducting his search for the next Superman helmer, and among the director hopefuls are Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Liebesman, Duncan Jones, and Zack Snyder. All of them are interested to work on the film from a script by David Goyer. And all of them have met/will meet Nolan and wife/co-producer Emma Thomas.

All of the "potentials" are good directors (I totally enjoyed Reeves' remake "Let Me In"), but I'm hoping, praying, wishing that Aronofsky gets the job. He's a brilliant director (okay, "The Fountain" is all forgiven now), a great storyteller, and he made Mickey Rourke relevant again.

I can just imagine the collaboration between Nolan and Aronofsky! It's made of steel!

Moviegoers Invest in "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps!" Sequel Debuts at No. 1! See Complete Top 10

Director Oliver Stone's "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" opened as the No. 1 movie of the weekend with a solid $19 million total. The sequel to Stone's iconic film about the world of Wall Street, the film reunites the director and Michael Douglas, who won an Academy Award for playing Gordon Gekko. The new film features Shia LaBeouf, Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan, and Frank Langella. (Check out my review of "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" right here).

Debuting at No. 2 is Zack Snyder's "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole." Based on the first three books of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series by author Kathryn Lasky, the 3-D animated tale features a talented voice cast headed by Jim Sturgess, Ryan Kwanten, Helen Mirren, Geoffrey Rush, and David Wenham among others. The Warner Bros. tale sold $16.3 million worth of box-office tickets. (Watch my review of "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" right here. For my interviews with Jim Sturgess, Ryan Kwanten, director Zack Snyder, and creative team, click here.)

Previous weekend's box-office champ, "The Town," also from Warner Bros., fell to No. 3 with a still-strong $16 million, raising its 10-day total to $49.1 million. Meanwhile, Sony's teen romp, "Easy A," starring Emma Stone, finished at No. 4 with $10.7 million lifting its 10-day total to $32.8 million.

Disney's new romantic comedy, "You Again," starring Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Sigourney Weaver, debuted poorly at No. 5 with a flop-worthy $8.3 million. Yikes!

Here's the estimated Top 10 Box-Office films for weekend of Sept. 27:

1. "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps," $19 million.

2. "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole," $16.3 million.

3. "The Town," $16 million.

4. "Easy A," $10.7 million.

5. "You Again," $8.3 million.

While Soren dreams of someday joining his heroes, his older brother, Kludd, scoffs at the notion, and yearns to hunt, fly and steal his father's favor from his younger sibling. But Kludd's jealousy has terrible consequences--causing both owlets to fall from their treetop home and right into the talons of the Pure Ones. Now it is up to Soren to make a daring escape with the help of other brave young owls. My Fun, Exclusive Interviews with Jim Sturgess, Ryan Kwanten, Zack Snyder, Creative Team of "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole!"
I enjoyed chatting with Jim Sturgess, Ryan Kwanten, Zack Snyder, Simon Whiteley (Production Designer) and Grant Freckelton (Art Director) for "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole." (For my written movie review of the film, click here)

Wanna know the secrets of Ga'Hoole? Take a look. First stop, Jim Sturgess.

Sturgess voices the role of Soren, the hero of the film. He's such a sweetheart in person, and in this interview, we talked about:

His involvement with the film
The visuals of the film
His character
His dreams as a child
The moral of the story

Then, we have Ryan Kwanten aka Jason Stackhouse!

Kwanten voices the tortured owl, Kludd, in the new action-animated adventure, "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole." In this interview, we talked about:

His involvement with the film
The "tortured individual" pathos of most of his roles
His dreams as a child
The moral of the story

And then, we have director Zack Snyder!

Snyder, the director of "300" and "Watchmen," tried his hands on the wonderful world of animated films. Did he succeed? Take a look at our interview, we talked about:

Why owls?
The historical allusions of the film and the series of books
The challenges of making his first full-feature animated film
The moral of the story

And of course, the real heroes of the film, at least for me, are Production Designer Simon Whitely, and Art Director Grant Freckelton. I love the look of the film so meeting them was a treat!

We talked about:

Their involvement with the film
How they inspired director Zack Snyder
How they researched the look of the movie
It's all about the gizzard
