Christopher Plummer, Jessica Chastain Among Hollywood Film Festival Honorees!

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the honorees of the 15th annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Film Awards. Here's the list of who will be honored:

*** Christopher Plummer ("Beginners") -- Hollywood Supporting Actor Award (He's truly excellent in the film! Check out my interviews with "Beginners" director Mike Mills, and Ewan McGregor.)

*** Joseph Gordon-Levitt ("50/50") -- Hollywood Breakthrough Actor Award (Hasn't he broken through before?)

*** Jessica Chastain ("Coriolanus," "The Debt," "The Help," "Take Shelter," and "The Tree of Life") -- Hollywood Breakthrough Actress Award (I still stand-by my theory that Chastain is America's answer to Cate Blanchett -- I love this actress! Check out my interview with her for "The Debt")

*** Felicity Jones ("Like Crazy") -- New Hollywood Award

*** "The Help" cast -- Hollywood Ensemble Award (yes, yes, yes!)

*** "Rango" -- Hollywood Animation Award (very deserving!)

*** Emmanuel Lubezki ("The Tree of Life") -- Hollywood Cinematographer Award

*** Stephen Mirrione ("The Ides of March") -- Hollywood Editor Award

*** James Murakami ("J. Edgar") -- Hollywood Production Designer Award

*** Scott Farrar ("Transformers: Dark of the Moon") -- Hollywood Visual Effects Award

More honorees will be announced over the next few weeks. The Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on October 24th.

Justin Timberlake will be "Spinning Gold" Casablanca Records-Style!

Deadline is reporting that Justin Timberlake has just signed on to star in "Spinning Gold," a biopic of the co-founder of Casablanca Records, 1970s record producer Neil Bogart.

Timberlake will also serve as a producer on the movie, a first for the multi-tasker. The singer-actor will produce the film along with Bogart's sons, Timothy Scott and Evan "Kidd." TV producer Gary Randall will also produce "Spinning Gold." Timberlake's manager, Rick Yorn, will act as the executive producer.

The script is written by Tim Bogart and "tells the rags-to-riches story of Neil Bogart, a dirt-poor Jewish kid from Brooklyn who went on to become a multimillionaire and help define 1970s pop culture with his Casablanca label that launched the careers of such superstars as KISS, Parliament, Donna Summer, and The Village People."

I remember Casablanca Records as a child, so this is a great reminder of that fabulous 70s decade! This is also right up Timberlake's alley, so I think the actor-singer will be able to breathe life into the biopic of Neil Bogart.

Start dusting off your 70s dancing boots!

"The Lion King 3D" Roars Past Competition for Second Straight Week!

"The Lion King" remained the king of the box-office jungle for the second week. The Walt Disney reissue beat out Brad Pitt and a sweet dolphin to climb to the top. "The Lion King" remained the No. 1 movie in America with $22.1 million. So far, the film has taken $61.7 million since its re-release.

The Brad Pitt Oscar-bait, "Moneyball" debuted at No. 2 with $20.6 million. Based on the book by Michael Lewis, the author who gave us the previous Oscar-bait "The Blind Side," "Moneyball" became the biggest baseball movie ever to open! (Chris Pratt talks about "Moneyball")

Meanwhile, "Dolphin Tale" was saddled with a strong family film competition with "The Lion King" reissue but still managed to garner solid business with $20.3 million, debuting at No. 3. I enjoyed "Dolphin Tale" so I'm hoping families will get to experience the film in the next coming weeks. (Check out my "Dolphin Tale" movie review right here)

Taylor Lautner's first solo starring role, "Abduction," debuted at No. 4 with $11.2 million. Not the greatest opening, but Lionsgate should be able to recoup its investment with the action-thriller.
