JAMIE FOXX KILLS IN "ZEBRA MURDERS"
Jamie Foxx hasn't had an interesting role since his Oscar-winning turn in "Ray." Sure, Michael Mann tried to revive Foxx' mojo in "Miami Vice," but that was also a hit-and-miss film for me.

So, this is an intriguing news! Jamie Foxx signed on to do "The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness, and Civil Rights." It's based on a book by Bennett Cohen and Prentice Earl Sanders.

Reading the description of this film, it sounds like a Denzel Washington movie...BUT...I would gladly see Foxx in this gripping, true-to-life story of murder, racism, and the law!

Here's a quick description:

The riveting story, told by San Francisco's first black police chief, of the racially-motivated serial killings—black on white—that terrorized the city in the winter of 1973–4, and how it was solved...by black detectives.

SPARTA!!! "300" NAMED MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!!
You heard it right, director Zack Synder's adaptation of Frank Miller's "300" was named 2007 movie of the year at the 11th Hollywood Film Festival's Hollywood Awards and it beat out summer favorites "HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX," "TRANSFORMERS," and "SPIDER-MAN 3."

I enjoyed "300," it was quite visionary (watch my pic's review below), and I predict it will receive Oscar nominations for all its technical/visual glory.

SCORSESE DICAPRIO REUNITE FOR "GONE BABY GONE" AUTHOR
This is great news!

First, it's "The Aviator," then, the fantastic "The Departed," now, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio will reteam for "Shutter Island," an adaptation of a Dennis Lehane novel.

Pic will be co-produced by Paramount and Columbia.

This is interesting, the producer of TV's "Bionic Woman," will be writing the script, Laeta Kalogridis. But she also wrote "Birds of Prey" and "Nochnoy dozor" ("Night Watch") AND "Alexander." Yikes! All I can say is she better turn a great script!

So what's "Shutter Island" really about? Let Google Book Search explain,

"The year is 1954. U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels and his new partner, Chuck Aule, have come to Shutter Island, home of Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane, to investigate the disappearance of a patient. Multiple murderess Rachel Solando is loose somewhere on this remote and barren island, despite having been kept in a locked cell under constant surveillance. As a killer hurricane bears relentlessly down on them, a strange case takes on even darker, more sinister shades -- with hints of radical experimentation, horrifying surgeries, and lethal countermoves made in the cause of a covert shadow war. No one is going to escape Shutter Island unscathed, because nothing at Ashecliffe Hospital is what it seems. But then neither is Teddy Daniels.
