Oscar Hopefuls Pushed Back!

Paramount Pictures dashed the Oscar dreams of "The Soloist" starring Jamie Fox and Robert Downey Jr. Studio is moving the film from Nov. 21 to March 13. There's no official reason given by Paramount.

But another movie is being pushed back! Click here to read more.

While we're on the same subject, Weinstein Co. "may" also push "The Road" back. Originally set for a Nov. 14 limited and Nov. 26 wide release, now, it's beeing shifted until December, and some insiders are saying, maybe until 2009.

Why? The book is written by "No Country for Old Men's" Cormac McCarthy and it stars Viggo Mortensen, both Oscar catnips.

Speaking of "No Country," what's going on with Oscar hopefuls this year? Same time last year, I already interviewed and reviewed the Coen brothers' Best Picture drama. Now? I can't pinpoint a clear Oscar frontrunner except for "The Dark Knight." :happy

Brad Pitt to Star in Homer's "The Odyssey"

In 2004, Brad Pitt played Achilles in "Troy" based on Homer's "The Iliad," now, the actor is set to star in "The Odyssey," the Greek poet's other Trojan War masterpiece.

It will be produced under the Warner Bros. banner and directed by George Miller (still attached to direct WB's "Justice League).

These are all good, until I found out that Miller and cohorts are planning to, are you ready for this? TO SET THE FILM INTO THE FUTURE!!!! IN OUTER SPACE!!!

Huh?

What's up with that?

Homer's "The Odyssey" to go where no man has gone before?

I want to say Miller and company are nuts, but the director has a pretty good resume (the "Mad Max" movies, "Babe," "Happy Feet") so I'm reserving my judgment.

Confirmed: Fourth "Bourne" Movie

As we told you back in June, there were some loud talks about a fourth "Bourne" film.

Now, it's confirmed! According to Variety, Universal is moving ahead with its fourth installment of "The Bourne Identity" series with George Nolfi set to write the script.

But here's the catch:

The new film won't be based on a Robert Ludlum title, but rather an original story

The good news? Director Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon are set to return. The bad news? Nothing really, just make sure the story is as intriguing as any of the Ludlum novels.
