Sam Raimi Says Buh-Bye Jack Ryan, Hello Spidey!!!

Director Sam Raimi, known for his great "Evil Dead" franchise and "Spider-Man" movies, tried to revive Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan character. You may know the character from "The Hunt for Red October" (Alec Baldwin played the character), Harrison Ford starred as Jack Ryan in "Clear and Present Danger" and "Patriot Games" and Ben Affleck tried to be Jack in "The Sum of All Fears."

Well, hopes for Raimi to spread his movie magic on the Jack Ryan franchise have been dashed! Revealing his thoughts to MTV, Raimi expounds on the following nuggets:

“I’m really excited about Spider-Man,” he told us this week, revealing that his flirtation with the Tom Clancy novel-to-film series that has starred Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck is finished. “Production [on more ‘Spider-Man’ films] would start probably by March, I’m guessing of 2010.”

Raimi revealed to us during the chat that he’d be willing to shoot “Spider-Man 4” and “Spider-Man 5” at the same time, and also spoke about the futures of Kirsten Dunst and The Lizard. And, as he explained, that doesn’t leave him any time to reboot Tom Clancy’s tale of America’s top CIA operative.

“I love Tom Clancy, and I hope they’d keep me in mind,” Raimi shrugged, admitting that he couldn’t realistically make a Jack Ryan movie for half a decade or more. “But because I’m committed to ‘Spider-Man and making that picture, I think it’s going to knock me out of the running for the Jack Ryan picture.”

Movie Review: "High School Musical 3: Senior Year!" How Many Kisses Do Zac Efron and "HSM3" Get?

Every generation has its own high school themed film. The 70s has “American Graffiti,” the 80s is marked by the John Hughes’ movies (“The Breakfast Club,” “Pretty in Pink”), the 90s has “American Pie,” and now, this generation has the “High School Musical” flicks. The franchise is decidedly cloying, but it’s ultimately harmless.

Imagine all the high school stereotypes you know and put them together in one big musical, and voila, you get “High School Musical.” There’s the jock, the beauty queen, the smart and pretty girl-next-door, the nerd, the rebel, all singing and dancing for the tween (the preadolescent crowd) generation.

Rudy Ray "Dolemite" Moore Dies at 81

Rudy Ray Moore, one of the pioneers of blaxpoitation films, has died from complications from diabetes. He was 81.

One of Moore's most memorable movies is "Dolemite," a film he self-produced about one of the most beloved characters from his stand-up acts.

I particularly enjoy blaxpoitation films for all their grittiness and raw energy, and Mister Rudy Ray Moore is certainly one of the icons of the genre.
