Oscar-Winning Actor Joins "Predators" Reboot!

Adrien Brody, best known for his Oscar-winning performance in the Roman Polanski drama “The Pianist,” has been set by 20th Century Fox to star as the heroic mercenary who fights alien hunters in "Predators."

Brody will star alongside Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Walt Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, and Louiz Ozawa.

Production for the reboot, being produced by Robert Rodriguez, is about to shoot on location in Hawaii and Rodriguez's home base, Austin, Texas, where his Troublemaker Studios is located.

Nimrod Antal, the guy who gave us 2003's "Kontroll," and 2007's "Vacancy," and the upcoming "Armored," is set to direct. The script is co-wrtten by Rodriguez with Michael Finch and Alex Litvak.

Variety
tells us that "Brody and his Paradigm reps lobbied hard for the role." Why would an Oscar-caliber actor want to star in a blockbuster? Because he can reinvent himself as an action hero ala Robert Downey Jr. with "Iron Man."

Brody's character is similar to the one that Arnold Schwarzenegger played in the 1987 original film. And yes, Brody has signed options to return for sequels.

"Paranormal Activity" Director to Explore Area 51!

This is one of the most exciting news I've heard recently. Oren Peli, the writer-director of the much talked about "Paranormal Activity," has already booked a start date and the financing for his follow-up.

An exploration into the horrors of Area 51. Ooooohhhhhhhhh....

Variety tells us, "He starts production next week on "Area 51," which will employ the "found footage" narrative structure of his last film and tell the story of three teens whose curiosity leads them to the notorious "Area 51" part of Nellis Air Force Base in the Nevada desert."

"Paranormal Activity" cost just $11,000; with his Area 51 project, Peli will be working with a $5 million budget! Still relatively cheap with how much Hollywood spends their filmmaking dime these days.

Alien conspiracy lovers are excited about this film. And for all of you who haven't seen "Paranormal Activity," you can still demand it to come to your town! Just go to http://www.paranormalmovie.com/

"Voltron" Fans Rejoice! Plans to Expand the Toy Brand!

United Talent Agency is expanding the "Voltron" brand and is partnering with its U.S. rights-holder World Events Productions.

One their plans is getting a deal on an animated cable series. Of course, video games and toy deals are to follow.

There's also a feature film being planned with Charles Roven's Atlas Entertainment and Jason Netter's Kickstart Productions. UTA is currently looking for a writer for the film, and will begin shopping the project to studios.

The whole point is that UTA and company are hoping "Voltron" will be as successful as "Transformers." Hollywood Reporter tells us that the pitch for "Voltron" allows for human-centric stories.
