The novel is not coming out until February, but the film rights to "Horns" by Stephen King's son, Joe Hill, has been optioned by Mandalay Pictures.
The premise is intriguing -- it's being described as a love story driven by horror and vengeance "that revolves around a 26-year-old man who wakes up one morning from a blackout hangover and finds horns sprouting out of his head. As the horns grow bigger by the day, the reason why seems to lie in the unsolved murder of his girlfriend." (Source: Variety)
Warner Bros. has already bought the rights to Hill's first novel, "Heart-Shaped Box."

Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau teamed up for "Couples Retreat," the weekend's No. 1 box-office flick. The comedy debuted with $35.3 million.
Universal Pictures is celebrating the film's high box-office take. The good news for the studio came just days after management shake-up where top managers March Shmuger and David Linde were replaced by Adam Fogelson and Donna Langley.
The studio is banking on "Couples Retreat's" excellent box-office performance after a crappy season with under-performing films such as "Land of the Lost" starring Will Ferrell, "Funny People" with Adam Sandler, and "Love Happens" with Jennifer Aniston.
But the good news for the weekend belonged to Paramount's "Paranormal Activity." Shot for $15,000, the horror flick debuted at No. 5 with $7.1 million showing in just 160 theaters! It averaged $44,163 per theater compared with $11,780 in 3,000 cinemas for "Couples Retreat!"
With the high demand for "Paranormal Activity," Paramount is putting the film in wide release beginning Oct. 16th. Billed as the first-ever major film release decided by viewers, demands from fans for the movie to be released in their towns reached more than 1 million requests; hence, you'll soon be able to watch "Paranormal Activity" in your neighborhoods! Check out their site http://www.paranormalmovie.com/ for more info.

Simon Cowell is producing a film, along with former Paramount production chief, Brad Weston, that will tell the story of British reality star, Paul Potts.
The film will be called "One Chance" from a script being developed by "The Bucket List" writer Justin Zackham.
Julian Jarrold, the director who gave us "Becoming Jane" and "Brideshead Revisited," is in talks to helm.
Variety tells us that Cowell "is producing the project along with Mike Menchel, who helped discover Potts when his daughter watched a YouTube video of the everyman hero, as well as Menchel's Relevant Pictures partner Steve Whitney. Weston helped steer the project when he was an exec at Paramount, and it was one of several he took with him when he segued to a producer deal on the lot."
Matthew Vaughn ("Stardust" and the upcoming "Kick-Ass") is expected to come aboard to help finance the movie.
"One Chance," a feel-good drama tells the story of Potts, a chubby cell phone salesman and amateur opera singer who defied all odds and became an overnight sensation when he appeared on "Britain's Got Talent." Much like Susan Boyle, Potts saw his video become a viral phenomenon.
Paramount is fast-tracking this film so it will be ready right around the finale of the upcoming season of "Britain's Got Talent" next summer.
Casting will be announced very soon!
Now, I don't know much about Potts, I haven't been following "Britain's Got Talent," but from the videos I saw? This guy is like the "Rocky" of reality singing competition!
Just take a look at his mini-biography:
