Get Ready for "Miss Saigon" the Movie! It's About Darn Time!

The Broadway hit "Miss Saigon" is getting ready for its big screen makeover! Former United Artists CEO, Paula Wagner, is spearheading the project. She has handpicked Lee Daniels to direct.

Picking Daniels is a great choice! His film "Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire" is a fantastic film, and sure to win some Oscar nods including Mo'Nique, yes, Mo'Nique, for Best Supporting Actress!

Wagner is producing the musical through her Chestnut Ridge Productions.

Cameron Mackintosh, the producer of the original Broadway musical, is producing the film with Wagner.

Variety is saying that depending on the script and financial discussions, the film will go into production next year for 2011 release.

Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil wrote the tragic tale of a Vietnamese bar girl who falls in love with an American soldier before the fall of Saigon in 1975.

I love "Miss Saigon!" I saw it, probably 5 times, and I memorized all the songs! I've always wondered about its cinematic possibilities, and now, I'm very excited to see this into fruition.

So who should play the part of Kim, the tragic character? May I suggest Miss Lea Salonga, the great Filipina actress who originated the role on Broadway and won a Tony award for it?

Check out her performance of Last Night of the World with Simon Bowman:

My Fun Interview with Tobin Bell (Jigsaw, Yeah!) for "Saw VI"

Alright, confession time! I stopped watching "Saw" after the first film. I enjoyed the first one, but the remaining ones were just rehash. Plus, the studio stopped inviting critics to watch the film in advance :happy

But after talking to Tobin Bell, I may just have to give the sixth installment a try! Who knew Mr. Bell would be a sweet man? I only knew him as the creepily preachy Jigsaw!

In this special one-on-one interview, we talked about:

*** WHY RETURN TO THE SAW FRANCHISE FOR THE SIXTH TIME?
*** HOW CAN HE MAKE JIGSAW INTERESTING EVERY TIME?
*** SAW VII RUMORS?
*** SAW VI'S TAGLINE SAYS EVIL COMES FULL CIRCLE, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
*** HOW IS JIGSAW INCORPORATED INTO THE NARRATIVE OF THE NEW FILM?
*** ANY TWISTS?
*** WHAT OTHER FILMS IS HE MAKING?

HAVE FUN!

Adam Shankman, Bill Mechanic to Produce Oscars!

Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic are set to produce the 82nd Academy Awards! They replace last year's ringleaders, Bill Condon and Laurence Mark.

No, Condon and Mark weren't fired, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences' board of directors had asked the duo but the pair didn't commit.

Once upon a time, Shankman performed on one of the Oscar nights as a dancer, but now, the director of "Bedtime Stories" and "Hairspray" will return as a producer.

Shankman and Mechanic will be busy developing the Oscarcast. I wonder who they will pick as the host.

Shankman is one busy dude! Besides being one of the main judges on the TV show "So You Think You Can Dance," he is also getting ready to adapt the Broadway musical "Rock of Ages."

The film will begin production by next summer and be released by Warner Bros. in 2011. I wonder if "American Idol" alum, Constantin Maroulis, will be bringing his role to the big screen. The singer was nominated for a Tony for Leading Actor in a Musical for his role in "Rock of Ages."

Shankman is also developing a film version of "Bye Bye Birdie." I told 'ya, this Shankman is one busy dude!
