Noomi Rapace will be the Girl Who Fights in Space for Ridley Scott's Alien 3D Prequel?

Back in July of last year, we reported that an "Alien" prequel was in the works and director Ridley Scott was set to return. Now, the female lead in that 3D-planned Fox prequel is one of the hottest roles in Hollywood, and one of the hottest actresses is in talks for the part. According to Deadline, Noomi Rapace aka Lisbeth Salander of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" films, met with the studio and Scott and has left a strong impression.

Carey Mulligan and Abbie Cornish also met with Fox and Scott, but I think Rapace should be the girl who takes us to battle in space!

Incidentally, the Lisbeth Salander role in the American version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was also one of the juiciest roles for actresses this year. That role went to "The Social Network's" Rooney Mara.

Meanwhile, we'll get the final glimpse of Rapace as Salander in the upcoming "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest." It'll be in limited release on Oct. 29. Here's the trailer:

Ewwww! Mike Myers to Star as the Lovably Smelly "Pepe Le Pew!"

Fresh from the success of "Shrek Forever After," Mike Myers is getting ready to voice another role, this time, it's the hopeless romantic "Pepe Le Pew." According to Vulture, Warner Bros. is developing a live-action/CGI movie on the popular Looney Tunes character, the skunk who loves to funk.

The studio wants to revive the Looney characters we love such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Porky Pig, and Pepe Le Pew is the first on the assembly line.

This one though will be a live-action/CGI hybrid where Pepe Le Pew and his perennial partner, Penelope Pussycat, would be CGI. The rest will be shot in live action. Wait, didn't Warner Bros. tried that shtick already with 2003's "Looney Tunes: Back in Action?" So what would make this movie different? Oh, maybe 3D perhaps?

Johnny Depp May Team Up With Tom Hanks for "Hurt Locker" Director Kathryn Bigelow

Kathryn Bigelow wants Johnny Depp to star with Tom Hanks in the Paramount drama "Triple Frontier." According to Deadline:

The picture, set in the organized crime haven that exists in the border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, has five main roles, but I’m told there are two major leads in the drama scripted by Mark Boal, Bigelow’s accomplice on the Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker.

This is promising and intriguing and having the "Hurt Locker" creative team of Bigelow and Boal must be a great attraction for Depp. But the actor is busy busy busy -- he's attached to play Barnabas Collins in "Dark Shadows" for Warner Bros. which will beging shooting in February, and this one is with his BFF Tim Burton so it will be a priority.

But if all parties can come to an agreement, both projects are sure-fire box-office draws for Depp.

Goodbye Natalie Portman, Hello Sandra Bullock? Actress in Talks to Defy "Gravity"

Hiring an actress for Alfonso Cuaron's sci-fi film "Gravity" will make a good movie itself. The musical chair dance started with Angelina Jolie attached for Universal's version of the film.

Then, the project moved to Warner Bros., and the studio did not want to pay Jolie's $20 million asking price. So WB talked to Marion Cotillard, then tested Scarlett Johansoon and Blake Lively, then courted Jolie again. Recently, Natalie Portman, fresh from her fantastic performance in "Black Swan," seemed to be a go. But now, her participation is officially off.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter is saying Sandra Bullock is in negotiations with the studio, and all's well that ends well. This is what we said about "Gravity" when it was reported that Portman was set to star:

"Gravity" is being described as an epic outer-space survival story and will be directed by Alfonso Cuaron. The director co-wrote the script with his son Jonas. This $80 million 3D survival story has the "no man is an island" theme similar to "Cast Away" with Tom Hanks. So, majority of the screen time will showcase Portman Bullock, although Robert Downey Jr. signed up for a supporting role.

I think this will make a great follow-up for Bullock fresh from her double-dose of success with her Oscar-winning "The Blind Side" and super-hit "The Proposal."
