"The Hobbit" Forges Ahead, Production to Begin February 2011

New Line president and COO Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. president and COO Alan Horn, and MGM co-CEO Steve Cooper jointly announced that "the two films based on 'The Hobbit' are now greenlit and will begin principal photography in February 2011, under the direction of Peter Jackson."

Yay? Yeah, but this means that the production must still overcome its labor issue hurdle. The issue lies on the dispute between Jackson and the New Zealand Actors' Equity and SAG. So "The Hobbit" may end up shooting elsewhere but New Zealand which was home to "The Lord of the Rings." Jackson said Warners are looking at five different locations around the world.

James Cameron to Direct Angelina Jolie in Cleopatra...3D, of Course!

The self-proclaimed King of the World may soon work with Hollywood's reigning queen in a 3D version of Cleopatra! James Cameron is exploring the possibility of directing Angelina Jolie for the Sony Pictures project.

This one is based on Stacy Schiff book called Cleopatra: A Life. According to Deadline, Sony's co-chair Amy Pascal decided to put the project in fast-track after screenwriter Brian Helgeland wrote a script that's being described as "brilliant" and "deserving of epic treatment."

That's fine and dandy but just try to avoid the same drama and headaches brought to the production of the 1963 Cleopatra flick starring Elizabeth Taylor.

So far, Jolie is in and very excited, while Cameron is still pondering.

Vanessa Hudgens May "Journey to the Center of the Earth" Part 2!

Vanessa Hudgens is in final talks to play the female lead in the sequel to "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D" according to The Hollywood Reporter. This one will be called "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island."

Josh Hutcherson is returning to the role of Sean Anderson, the young explorer who must team up with Dwayne Johnson to look for his missing grandpa. The caveat? They must traverse a mythical and mysterious island. The script is loosely based on Jules Verne's "The Mysterious Island."

Hudgens will play a Pacific Islander (which is perfect because she's half-Filipina), who becomes Hutcherson's love interest.

Director Brad Peyton is set to start production in late October in North Carolina and Hawaii.
