Director Christian Sesma Talks About "Shoot the Hero" -- Palm Springs Travel Channel-Style

Fellow Palm Springs resident, Christian Sesma, is slowly but surely realizing his dream of becoming a Hollywood filmmaker. His latest film, "Shoot the Hero" was well-received at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and is now being released by Warner Video on DVD and On-Demand.

Jason Mewes, in a rare "straight" performance, ditches his Jay persona from the "Clerks" movies, and stars as Samantha Lockwood's fiance, Nate. The couple gets entangled with a botched jewelry heist that would soon change the course of their lives.

Danny Trejo aka "Machete" also co-stars.

The film was shot 100% in Palm Springs so I tagged along with the directors to see his production locations. Take a look at this travelogue into the wild and crazy mind of Sesma.

It's A Bird, It's A Plane, It's Zack Snyder for "Superman"

Keeping It In The Family Story #2 -- Zack Snyder, who has great working relationship with Warner Bros. ("300," "Watchmen," "Legend of the Guardian," the upcoming "Sucker Punch") came out and revealed that he will be directing the new Man of Steel movie, also from Warner Bros. Hence, the keeping it in the family angle.

Producer Christopher Nolan met with potential directors including Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Lieberman, Snyder, and Darren Aronofsky.

But in the end, the chosen one is Snyder. The director confirmed to Deadline that "as soon as he completes post on Sucker Punch, he'll move right into Warner Bros' long awaited next Man of Steel movie in development with Chris Nolan and David Goyer."

As for the direction this new Superman is going to take? Snyder said, "It's early yet, but I can tell you that what David and Chris have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern. I've always felt he was kind of awesome. I'll finish Sucker Punch and get right at it."

I like Snyder and all (check out my recent interview with the director for "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" right here), but I thought Aronofsky would have been a better choice. He's a great storyteller, much like Nolan. One could just imagine the possibilities of a Nolan-Aronofsky collaboration!

Emma Stone to Star as Mary Jane Watson for "Spider-Man" Reboot?

Keeping It In The Family Story #1 -- Emma Stone, according to Deadline, will be offered the Mary Jane Watson role for Sony's "Spider-Man" reboot. The actress wowed everyone with her performance in "Easy A," also from Sony, hence, it's the "keeping it in the family story #1.

Stone will be starring alongside Andrew Garfield (recently seen in "The Social Network") who is set to wear the Spider-Man tights. Marc Webb ("500 Days of Summer") is set to direct.

Also from Deadline, the following actresses are duking it out for the Gwen Stacy role. They are Dianna Agron, Mia Wasikowska, Georgina Haig, and Dominique McElligott. Bryce Dallas Howard played the role in the third installment of "Spider-Man."

So this new "Spider-Man" reboot will have a love triangle arch between Peter Parker, Mary Jane, and Gwen Stacy. Webb sure knows his love angles having proven that with "500 Days of Summer"
