Movie Reviews: "Hotel Transylvania" VS. "Looper!"

NOTE: Sorry for the delay, I had to go to LA this weekend for "Argo!" Will post my interviews shortly.

Two big films opening this weekend, we have “Hotel Transylvania” for kids, and “Looper” for action fans. “Hotel Transylvania” stars Adam Sandler as the voice of Dracula. He builds a lavish resort so monsters and their families can be who they are. Oh by the way, no humans allowed!

In “Looper,” Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as Joe, a hired gun by the mob who’s been assigned to kill his future self, played by Bruce Willis. Ryan Johnson directs this sci-fi action thriller that really embraces its sci-fi, action, and thriller roots!

So which one is my pick of the week? Take a look:

"Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" the Remake!

I don't know about you, but watching the 1962 film "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford has always been such a guilty pleasure for me. I love watching the two actresses duke it out. And now, Walter Hill has written the remake and will direct. According to THR, Lakeshore Entertainment has come on board to finance and produce the film. Hill used the original Henry Farrell novel as the basis of the movie.

The hardest part in making the remake is to find the right actresses to star in the movie. Both Davis and Crawford created such iconic performances, that it will be hard to erase their images from our minds.

So while we're waiting for more info, take a look at the original trailer of "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" Oh, Blaaaaaanche!

"The Empty Glass" aka Marilyn Monroe Novel Coming to Theaters Near You

It's a salacious Hollywood thriller involving an icon's death. We're of course talking about "The Empty Glass," the J.I. Baker novel about a young coroner who wants to find out the real truth about Marilyn Monroe's death. Now, it's coming to theaters near you very soon, according to THR. Winkler Films has optioned the rights to the book.

The author will write the screenplay and Irwin Winkler and David Winkler will be producing. Baker said, "When I was writing The Empty Glass, I very much had Goodfellas in mind structurally, so the fact that Winkler Films has optioned the book makes it feel like it's come full-circle.”

Ride Aboard Wachowski Starship!

Forget about the Wachowski Brothers, from here on out, they will be known as the Wachowski Starship!

Devin Faraci of CHUD.com attended the Fantastic Fest screening of "Cloud Atlas" at Austin's Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and tweeted:

"We were formerly the Wachowski Brothers. Now we're Wachowski Starship." - Andy W intro'ing CLOUD ATLAS #ff2012

Now that Larry is Lana, the term "brothers" does not fit anymore. So Starship it is! "Cloud Atlas" starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry flies into theaters on Oct. 26th. This film marks the duo's first foray as the Wachowski Starship.
