Two films opening this weekend, one’s the blockbuster animated tale “Frankenweenie,” and the other is the smaller but full of heart limited release “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” “Frankenweenie” features the voices of Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron and Conchata Ferrell.

“Perks” is based on the book by Stephen Chbosky who also did double-duties in the film working as the scriptwriter and director. That’s hard to do! Starring Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, Johnny Simmons, Mae Whitman, and Logan Lerman, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” is now out on limited release.

So which one is my pick of the week? Take a look:

Logan Lerman Talks About “Perks of Being a Wallflower” and Teases Us About “Noah!”

So finally, I got to talk to Logan Lerman for “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” When I went to Toronto for TIFF, Lerman was in the middle of working on Darren Aronofsky's “Noah” and he was not able to attend the press junket for the movie. Yeah, the wallflower himself was missing! Well, thank the film gods, and Summit, he was made available to talk to press about his fantastic film (video below)!

In the movie, Lerman stars as Charlie, a brooding freshman who’s counting down the days of finishing high school – 1,385 days to be exact! He’s dreading going to school, that is until, he meets Sam (Emma Watson) and Patrick (Ezra Miller) who shows him some perks of being a wallflower. “Perks” is one of the best coming-of-age movies I’ve ever seen!

In this interview, we talked about:

His interest in making “Perks of Being a Wallflower”
Working with writer/author/director Stephen Chbosky
How he got into his character of Charlie
He teases us about “Noah!” He was shooting the night before the interview! And lots and lots of extras!
And since I’m from Palm Springs – it’s nice to know that Logan’s family has a house here too!

Have fun!

Emma Watson and Stephen Chbosky Interview for “The Perks of Being a Wallflower!" I Love This Film!

I love Emma Watson! She grew up before our very eyes playing Hermione in the beloved “Harry Potter” series. And boy, did she grow up to be a fine, sweet young woman. In the new movie “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” Watson plays Sam, the love interest of our wallflower, Charlie (Logan Lerman). This film is simply one of the best movies this year, in my humble opinion (video below).

When I met Watson during the Toronto International Film Festival, she was joined by Stephen Chbosky, the author, writer, and director of “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” In this interview, we talked about:

What did Emma think of the book when she first read it?
To Stephen – why did he decide to adapt and direct his own novel?
To Emma – what attracted her to the character Sam?
Why many people love the book and now the movie?

Have fun!

My Fun Interview with Johnny Simmons, Ezra Miller, and Mae Whitman for “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”

I truly enjoyed “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” I know it’s cliché to say by now that a movie is a great coming-of-age film but in the case of “Perks,” it truly is! Adapted and directed by the book’s author, Stephen Chbosky, “Perks” is captivating and the narrative will pull you right in. It also boasts a great ensemble cast featuring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, Johnny Simmons, and Mae Whitman. I sat down with Miller, Simmons, and Whitman when they premiered the movie at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. It was a fun interview and we talked about (video below):

What got them interested in making “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”
The audition process
Working with Stephen Chbosky
Ezra Miller’s brilliant performance
The difference between the book and the movie

Have fun!

Nina Dobrev Talks About “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”

Nina Dobrev, “The Vampire Diaries” star, is part of the fantastic ensemble of the new film “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” She plays Candace, the sister of our wallflower, Charlie (Logan Lerman). Emma Watson and Ezra Miller co-star from author/writer/director Stephen Chbosky. I met the actress in Toronto for the 2012 TIFF for this interview. We talked about (video below):

Why does the book resonate to many people?
How did she get involved into making “Perks of Being a Wallflower?”
Her character and her bond with Charlie
What you can expect in the DVD’s deleted scenes
Music as the soundtrack of our lives
The meaning of “we are infinite”

Have fun!
