My Fun Sandra Bullock Interview for “GRAVITY!” See How George Clooney Helped Shape the Movie!

I love, love, love Sandra Bullock! She’s one of the few, big-name stars who reached out and gave both of her hands to shake mine. She’s a humble, down-to-earth human being and that’s why good karma keeps on giving! In “Gravity,” the star is poised for another Best Actress Oscar nomination (it’s a tough call between her and Cate Blanchett from “Blue Jasmine”), and perhaps a win! Bullock single-handedly carried the film from start to finish with a little help from George Clooney, of course! She adds gravitas to the movie!

In the movie, Bullock stars as Dr. Ryan Stone, an engineer on her first shuttle mission. But things go awry.

Writer/director Alfonso Cuaron created an eye-popping film with emotional weight! “Gravity” opens nationwide on Oct. 4th, go watch it!

In this interview, we talked about:

*** She loves “whiz bangs!”
*** The film’s deep emotional pull
*** What got her interested in making “Gravity?”
*** What was the most daunting task of bringing the character to the forefront?
*** How George Clooney helped shape the big reveal?
*** Her breathing is another character in the movie!
*** Why she said, “we’re all gonna be hit with sh&t!”
*** What she wants people to do after watching the movie!

Have fun!

Alfonso Cuaron Interview for “GRAVITY”

Alfonso Cuaron is one of those rare directors who can jump from genre to genre and does not miss a beat! From drama with “Y Tu Mama Tambien,” to fantasy with “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” (he changed the tone and course of the “Harry Potter” saga), to dystopian sci-fi thriller with “Children of Men,” Cuaron is consistent in becoming this generation’s cinematic storyteller. Now, with the upcoming “Gravity,” Cuaron challenges himself and his crew (and cast Sandra Bullock and George Clooney) to create a visually compelling movie that has a lot of emotional weight. But wait, there’s more, he teamed up with J.J. Abrams to come up with a new TV show that will blow your mind, the upcoming NBC series, “Believe.”

In this interview, we talked about:

*** How he broke technical and creative boundaries to create “Gravity”
*** It took him 4 ½ years to make the movie!
*** What was his interest in making “Gravity?”
*** The metaphorical possibilities of space – outer space is also the inner space of the characters
*** The film’s theme – you have to go through adversities to be reborn
*** The film’s central female character – rarely seen in this genre
*** Nurturing with Mother Earth in the background
*** Working with J.J. Abrams in NBC’s “Believe”

Have fun!

Sal Mineo's Life as Seen Through James Franco's Eyes!

Leave it to James Franco! The prolific actor/director has created a new feature film about the last day in the life of "Rebel Without A Cause" star Sal Mineo from a script by Stacey Miller.

The film is called "Sal" and is set to premiere on-demand on Oct. 22nd with a debut at the Sundance Sunset Cinema in Los Angeles on Nov. 1st. Val Lauren (who also appeared in Franco's "Interior. Leather Bar.") stars in the title role.

Franco stars as Milton Katselas in the movie. Katselas was an American director and producer, as well as a Hollywood acting instructor and coach.

Just in 2013 alone, Franco has made "As I Lay Dying," "Interior. Leather Bar," "Child of God," and "Venice 70: Future Reloaded." On top of that, the actor has also appeared in "Spring Breakers" (fantastic performance, I might add), "Oz The Great and Powerful," "This is the End," and "Palo Alto."

What a busy guy! Here's the trailer for "Sal," which incidentally, looks intriguing even with its own indie sensibilities.

Movie Reviews -- "Rush" and "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2!" Which One is My Pick of the Week!

Two big films this weekend, we have the Oscar-bait “Rush” and the animated sequel “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.” In “Rush,” Thor aka Chris Hemsworth trades his hammer for a race car in director Ron Howard and scriptwriter Peter Morgan’s take on the real-life 1970s merciless Formula 1 rivalry between James Hunt (Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl). Olivia Wilde co-stars in this searing but engaging sports drama.

In “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2,” Bill Hader returns to voice the role of the genius inventor, Flint Lockwood. This time, he’s working for The Live Corp Company but he soon must leave his post because his infamous machine, the one who turned water into food in the first film, is now creating food-animal hybrids known as FOODIMALS! Also returning for the sequel are Anna Faris, James Caan, Will Forte, Andy Samberg, Benjamin Bratt, and Neil Patrick Harris.

So which one is my pick of the week? Take a look:

James Hetfield Talks About “Metallica: Through the Never” -- He Says They're a Boy Band Too!

I thoroughly enjoyed talking to James Hetfield, lead singer, co-founder, main songwriter, and lyricist of the iconic American rock group Metallica. Fresh from the success of their thoroughly engaging documentary, “Some Kind of Monster,” they are back with the concert-documentary “Metallica: Through the Never,” with the title taken from the band’s 1991 self-titled album (interview video below).

Directed by Nimrod Antal (“Kontroll,” “Vacancy,” “Armored,” “Predators”), the quasi-narrative movie follows a young roadie named Trip (Dane DeHaan, the up and coming actor from “Chronicle,” “Lawless,” “Lincoln,” “The Place Beyond the Pines,” “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”) and his surreal adventure with footage from various Metallica concerts as a rockin’ backdrop.

Truth be told, forget about Justin Bieber or One Direction, this is the concert documentary to watch! Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, and bassist Robert Trujillo are members of a boy band, according to Hetfield.

In this fun interview, we talked about:

*** What’s the genesis of “Metallica: Through the Never”)
*** Working with Nimrod Antal
*** Working with Dane DeHaan
*** Who came up with the concept of the movie?
*** As a Filipino, I gave a shout-out to Hammett who is part of my race – that good, old Filipino gene
*** Yes, I can’t help but ask him about “twerking”
*** Will they visit Palm Springs for our annual Coachella Valley Music Festival?
*** What about the Palm Springs International Film Festival?
