The IFP, or the Independent Feature Project, created the Gothams 17 years ago.
And this year, a big congratulations to writer/director Sean Penn! His "Into the Wild" won best feature honors at the 17th Gotham Awards.
Michael Moore's "Sicko" took home the best documentary prize!
"Talk to Me" and "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" tied for the ensemble cast award.
Ellen Page, my current fave from "Juno," won for breakthrough actor from the film.
Breakthrough director was given to Craig Zobel for "Great World of Sound."
My favorite category -- Best Film Not Playing at a Theater near You -- went to "Frownland."
Six tributes were given to my inspiration, Roger Ebert, my favorite to win Best Supporting Actor, Javier Bardem, director Mira Nair ("Namesake"), production designer Mark Friedber, IFC Entertainment president Jonathan Sehring, and New York mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The teaser was set to start in November (since when have we been excited to be teased by a film?), but apparently it's been moved!
But I found a Teaser Treatment so, here it is!
The Paramount Pictures Logo appears on the screen.
Black movie screen. The audience hears a low buzzing noise. Shot of a large group of big jeeps crossing the desert.
Fade to black.
JIM BROADBENT: "There are many secrets in this world."
Shot of a wooden box being loaded onto a loader.
Fade to black.
JIM BROADBENT: "That man was not meant to discover!"
Shot of the legendary Ark of the Covenant being lifted out of its confines as military scientists watch in awe.
Fade to black.
A shot of the lid being lifted off the Ark.
Cut to black. Cut to Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and Jim in a university hallway.
JIM BROADBENT: "There are others who seek the power of the Ark now!"
Cut to black. Shot of Indy leaving the university, looks like he's being watched. Shot of a woman in a white dress stepping from a vehicle.
CATE BLANCHETT (Russian villain): "Your services are required, Dr. Jones."
Shot of Cate talking to Indy, she opens a box revealing a crystal skull.
INDIANA JONES: "I'm sorry. I can't help you!"
Shot of Marion Ravenwood (last seen in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) tied up in the back of a vehicle kicking and screaming. The door opens and Indy Jones reacts.
CATE: "Your reward is her life!"
INDIANA JONES: "Marion!"
Shot of a ship crossing the ocean. Massive shot of Indy and Ray Winstone in a temple. Shot of Shia Labeouf fighting next to rotating blades. Shot of a huge Mayan city. Shot of Indy racing through catacombs. Shot of Cate slapping Marion with Marion slapping her back.
Shot of Cate by the crystal skull alter. A group of Soviet soldiers behind her. We can just see the Ark of the Covenant. She places a crystal skull down. Shot of Jim Broadbent looking very worried.
Shot of a Mayan temple exploding with the power of the Ark. Shot of Indy and Shia swinging across a huge ravine while walls collapse around them. Shia slips at the edge. Indy grabs his hand.
TITLES: INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL
Shot of Marion punching Indy.
INDIANA JONES: "I should have seen that coming!"

I love "The Soup" on E! It's a funny and irreverent look at pop-culture, and I've been a fan since its earliest incarnation as "Talk Soup" with Greg Kinear.
Well, last week, "The Soup" did a segment on the Oscars.
What really makes a movie an "Oscar" worthy flick? Is it the costumes, the stars, the story?
I feel this skit belongs on this site as well, because after all, it's just movies y'all!
Let's take a look.

This is so very much like "The Amazing Race." IT'S EXCITING!
This event is from my friends at Disney!
You've seen Ben Gates do it in National Treasure. Now it's your opportunity to compete in a clue hunt in Los Angeles!!! Ten teams of four people will traverse the city by foot, public transportation, and perhaps even more exotic modes of transportation as they race against the clock searching for hidden clues, solving mysteries and completing puzzles. The top two winning teams will travel to New York City on Wednesday, December 12 to attend the World Premiere of National Treasure: Book of Secrets and compete in one final clue hunt against winners from San Francisco and Washington DC.
The grand prize winning team will receive a prize package to travel the world courtesy of Orbitz!
There are two ways to participate:
1. Simply log onto www.nationaltreasurecluehunt.com by noon on Friday, November 30th, click on Los Angeles as your market and choose your favorite team. Once logged on, you'll have 12 minutes to attempt three puzzles…answer as many questions as you can within the time limit allotted. If you score the highest amount of points, you'll win a spot to compete in the clue hunt on Tuesday, December 4 with your team of 4 members. (Keep in mind you only have ONE TRY, so put up a good score!!)
2. Show up at the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank by 6:00am on Tuesday, December 4 with your team of four members. Once there you'll compete against other potential teams to participate in the Clue Hunt.
WHAT: National Treasure: Book of Secrets Clue Hunt
WHEN: Tuesday, December 4
