They already have the teaser poster available (see above), but director Brett Ratner only agreed to do the film last Friday!
His dilemma? He really wanted to re-energize the "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise, but the script was not quite ready to go, so the director agreed to work on "Conan" first!
The new flick is written by Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly who claimed to have based their screenplay on Robert E. Howard's original stories of the 1930s.
The movie, attached with an R-rating wishes and $85-million budget, is now set to open in early 2010.
Trivia! Did you know that the first "Conan the Barbarian" released in 1982 was co-written by Oliver Stone?
As far as the story of the new one? Well, it's going to be an origin story and will open on the battlefield where Conan is born.
And so far, there are no reports of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger attached to the new project

Writer-Director Sylvester Stallone is set to co-star with Jason Statham and Jet Li in the upcoming action-thriller, "The Expendables."
But Stallone has one wish list. He wants Oscar winner Forest Whitaker ("The Last King of Scotland") to co-star.
"The Expendables" is about a band of mercenaries out to depose a Latin American dictator.
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
The star also revealed the project he's now writing for a February shoot in Costa Rica and Louisiana will aim for a PG-13 rating ("it won't be a blood fest," he said), and jokingly thanked the producers "for giving me the $35 dollars to make this movie.
"Whereas the 'Oceans 11' films were an ensemble for good looking guys, this is an ensemble for ugly tough guys," he cracked.
Well, it may help if you have George Clooney and Brad Pitt in the cast

Chris Rock will star and co-write the re-imagining of "Death at a Funeral." The original was a funny 2007 British comedy about a funeral ceremony that opens up shocking family secrets.
The new film will take place in an urban American setting.
If you guys haven't had a chance to watch "Death at a Funeral," give it a chance. It's funny, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Rock will do to this hilarious flick!

According to Variety, Steven Spielberg and Will Smith are in early discussions to collaborate on a remake of Chan Wook-park's "Oldboy." DreamWorks will secure the remake rights, and the film will be distributed by Universal.
I loved the source material, the 2003 Korean film. And with Spielberg and Smith interested in the project, this may be a really cool film.
Smith will play the kidnapped man who was released years later to revenge what happened to him.
Spielberg is looking for a writer to begin drafting the movie.
