Beyonce Really, Really Wants to be "Wonder Woman"

Pop superstar Beyonce Knowles is campaigning to be Wonder Woman for a possible big screen adventure!

She reveals to Los Angeles Times:

"I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It's time for that, right?"

Furthermore, she already met with folks from DC Comics and Warner Bros. to express her interest for the role! Wow, Miss Beyonce really wants to be Wonder Woman! Well, she has big shoes to fill! The iconic Lynda Carter was so memorable as the super heroine, that Beyonce must work it, to lasso in the project.

So what made Beyonce interested in Wonder Woman? Apparently, the recent successful adaptations of comic book franchises sparked her interest, and upon see the original costume worn by Miss Carter at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Well, let's see, Beyonce's hot, she can be a good actress (she was overshadowed by the role of Jennifer Hudson in "Dreamgirls," but she stood on her own), and she seems agile.

I can't wait to see her screen test!

"Madagascar Escape 2 Africa" Roars Atop Box-Office!!!

After an exciting week with elections and reports of poor economy, moviegoers were ready to laugh -- christening "Madagascar Escape 2 Africa" and "Role Models" as the No. 1 and No. 2 films for the weekend.

The sequel to "Madagascar" even surpassed the box-office performance of its predecessor, bringing in $63.5 million compared to the $47.2 million debut of the original.

Meanwhile, the R-rated comedy, "Role Models," the BEST comedy of the year, hauled $19.3 million of ticket sales. Not bad for a raunchy flick with a big heart.

The weekend's other new wide release, "Soul Men," starring Samuel L. Jackson and the late, great Bernie Mac failed to spark interest and opened weakly with $5.6 million. The film will be best remembered as the last lead role of Mac and the final film of Mac and Isaac Hayes working together.

Getting Ready to Watch the New Film "Milk" and to Interview Cast!!!

I've been waiting patiently to watch the new film "Milk," and now, thanks to my friends at Focus Features, I will get the chance to talk to cast and crew as well! Yay!

Here's the deal, I've been inspired by Harvey Milk since I saw the 1985 Academy Award-winning documentary, "The Life and Times of Harvey Milk."

Milk, who's known as the "mayor of Castro street" was the first openly gay man elected to an office in the U.S. Sean Penn is getting major Oscar buzz for his portrayal, BUT, I'll reserve my critical thinking about the movie until I see it tonight!

I'll keep y'all posted!

For now, check the fantastic website for "Milk" right here.

Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba Team Up for "The Killer Inside Me"

"The Killer Inside Me" is an adaptation of a novel from noir author Jim Thompson, and now, Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba are set to star for director Michael Winterbottom ("A Mighty Heart").

Hhhhm, interesting book, paired up with interesting actors (not quite so sure about Alba though), and directed by an interesting director. This just might work!

The novel first made its foray into the big screen with a 1976 film starring Stacy Keach. The story follows a West Texas sheriff (Affleck) and his downward spiral from a boring small-town cop into a ruthless, sociopathic murderer. Alba plays a prostitute.

The film is set to shoot in January.

Director Brett Ratner to Helm "Conan the Barbarian"

They already have the teaser poster available (see above), but director Brett Ratner only agreed to do the film last Friday!

His dilemma? He really wanted to re-energize the "Beverly Hills Cop" franchise, but the script was not quite ready to go, so the director agreed to work on "Conan" first!

The new flick is written by Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly who claimed to have based their screenplay on Robert E. Howard's original stories of the 1930s.

The movie, attached with an R-rating wishes and $85-million budget, is now set to open in early 2010.

Trivia! Did you know that the first "Conan the Barbarian" released in 1982 was co-written by Oliver Stone?

As far as the story of the new one? Well, it's going to be an origin story and will open on the battlefield where Conan is born.

And so far, there are no reports of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger attached to the new project :happy
