At the heart of “Australia” is the belief that each human being needs a story to tell in order to continue existing. Apparently trying to prove his existence, director Baz Luhrmann (“Moulin Rouge”) reteams with Nicole Kidman to tell his most ambitious story yet, in a grand epic about his homeland – Australia. "Hancock" -- Will Smith plays a boozing, depressed superhero in "Hancock" a so-so movie with mediocre special effects, but Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman added much needed hearts to make it watchable on DVD.
"Meet Dave" -- Eddie Murphy's the commander of a spaceship that looks a whole lot like Eddie Murphy in the sci-fi comedy "Meet Dave," one of the worst films of 2008. The wonderful Elizabeth Banks was criminally underused. The best part of this DVD? The blooper reel!
"Space Chimps" -- SNL's Andy Samberg provided the voice of an astro monkey in "Space Chimps" about, you guessed it, monkeys in space! Do we really need this movie? Um...no...
Also out are "24: Redemption" and "Fred Claus."

The much-awaited "Twilight" drained box office blood, opening with $70.6 million to debut at No. 1.
This is good in many levels:
1. The next book in the franchise, "New Moon" will be adapted. The second novel has more visual and story-arch potentials.
2. This signals that teenage girls cannot be ignored in Hollywood anymore! The tweens can bring box office glory too.
3. Made by a female director, Catherine Hardwicke, "Twilight" broke the record previously set by "Deep Impact's" Mimi Leder for the biggest opening film directed by a woman.
I heard Hardwicke went bodyboarding over the weekend to take her mind off this high-pressure, over-hyped experience.
"Twilight's" biggest competitor, Walt Disney's "Bolt" debuted at No. 3 with a $27 million opening. Previous No. 1 flick, the James Bond movie "Quantum of Solace" fell to No. 2 with $27.4 million ticket sales.
