"Paranormal Activity" Sequel! Already? Check Out What the Cast Revealed!

Paramount Pictures wants a sequel to "Paranormal Activity."

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

In Viacom's earnings call Tuesday morning, CEO Philippe Dauman said the movie has been one of those surprise hits that comes along only rarely.

Given that a follow-up release wouldn't have the same element of surprise as "Paranormal," it will be key to craft a smart approach to a sequel, he said. "Our team will come up with the right creative and marketing approach," he told analysts.

But before Paramount takes the sequel route, I hope the studio pays attention to the rushed sequel to another shaky-cam phenomenon, "The Blair Witch Project." The second installment, "Book of the Shadows: Blair Witch 2" was HORRIBLE!!!!!

But I like that the studio is talking about "a smart approach to a sequel." "Paranormal Activity" is so simple, it's scary, that putting a Hollywood spin on the franchise may just hurt it in the long run.

When I interviewed the cast of "Paranormal," Micah Sloat and Katie Featherston, I did ask them about sequel plans. Take a look at what they said by clicking here.

Get Ready for "Marmaduke" the Movie!

"Marmaduke," the long-running comic strip is about to bark into theaters near you! And Owen Wilson will lend a helping hand.

The actor will voice the rambunctious Great Dane for Fox. The live-action CG movie tells the tale of the Winslows who move from Kansas to Orange County with their dog Marmaduke.

Based on the comic strip created in 1954 by Brad Anderson and Phil Leeming, the script is written by Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio. There is going to be a Mutts vs. Pedigrees war (fun!), and Marmaduke will even fall in love. Awww...

The humans will be played by Judy Greer, Lee Pace, and William H. Macy; Fergie, Emma Stone, George Lopez (he sure loves voicing animals, he was just in "Beverly Hills Chihuahua), Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, Damon Wayans, and Marlon Wayans will provide the voices.

Wilson's director from "Shanghai Noon," Tom Dey, is set to helm the family comedy with a release date of June 2010.

"Who Framed Roger Rabbit" Sequel?

MTV News is reporting that Robert Zemeckis is making a sequel to 1988's "Who Framed Roger Rabbit."

After 20 years, Zemeckis is bringing back his frustrated cartoon bunny to the big screen, and helping the director are the original screenwriters Jeffrey Price and Peter Seaman.

So there's a script being developed right now!

A big factor in creating sequel plans for "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" is the performance-capture technology that Zemeckis employed in "Polar Express," "Beowulf," and the upcoming "A Christmas Carol."
