At first glance, the marriage of director Martin Scorsese and 3D filmmaking seems off-putting. The greatest living American director does not need to succumb to the technical toy du jour.
But upon watching “Hugo” in 3D, one can understand Scorsese’s three-dimensional decision. Instead of using 3D as a gimmick, it becomes a vital part of the story, utilizing space as an element in the narrative. Read More...

As expected, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" enjoyed a huge box-office opening with $139.5 million and a worldwide total of $283.5 million. While that's a big chunk of change, "Breaking Dawn" failed to match the head-spinning opening gross of "New Moon" which debuted with a $142.8 million in 2009. Director Brad Brid Confirms "The Dark Knight Rises" 6-Minute Prologue to Be Shown with "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" ImaxI was lucky to be invited to see 20 minutes of the upcoming M:I4, Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol and all I can say was, I was very impressed!
I think Brad Bird ("The Iron Giant," "The Incredibles." "Ratatouille") is a great storyteller, and it's exciting to see his first live action film.
I will post my full interview and my thoughts on the clips I saw very soon, but this little nugget confirms that the 6-minute prologue of Christopher Nolan's Batman flick, "The Dark Knight Rises" will be shown on the Imax presentation of "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol." The Imax release of the fourth "Mission: Impossible" film will be five days early on Dec. 16th so save the date!" The film's regular release date is Dec. 21st.
So exciting! We'll knock on wood and make the sign of the cross for full effect!
