What Colin Farrell Thinks of His Golden Globe Nomination for "In Bruges"

Colin Farrell (pictured with writer-director Martin McDonagh) received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in "In Bruges."

I love this movie, and both Farrell and co-star Brendan Gleeson deserve their Best Actor (Musical/Comedy) for "In Bruges."

You know what's cool? This film came out in February, and the Golden Globe voters remembered it! How cool is that?

So first, here's what McDonagh says about his film's nominations:

“I’m so glad that our strange little comedy of mayhem and redemption has been recognized for the superlative performances of Colin and Brendan. Deepest thanks to the HFPA.”

And here's Farrell's official statement about his acting nomination, it's heartfelt:

“I’ve gotten worse calls in the wee hours of the morning. A lovely surprise at 5:45 AM – an unexpected guest, yet a welcome one. I am so happy for Brendan Gleeson and so glad that the film got nominated. This is Martin McDonagh’s nomination, because he was and is this film; it was his brilliance that truly brought it to life. All in all, as from the start, I’m really proud to be part of this story – and just so pleasantly surprised that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association carried it with them from last winter to now. It will be nice for IN BRUGES to get this second inning, for some people maybe to find it for the first time.”

Aw...what a lovely man! I LOVE COLIN FARRELL! And just to show how cool he really is, watch my fun interview with both Farrell and McDonagh that first aired last February! HAVE FUN :happy

"Button," "Doubt," "Frost/Nixon" Lead Golden Globe Nominees

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced its 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards and in the film category, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Doubt," and "Frost/Nixon" led with 5 nominations each.

Curiously missing in the Best Film category is "Milk" but its lead actor, Sean Penn, grabbed a Best Actor nomination. No one from "Milk" also received Best Supporting Actor noms, but Tom Cruise, yes Tom Cruise, received a nod for "Tropic Thunder."

Robert Downey Jr. also received a nomination for the comedy, well, he's deserving. But Cruise? Look, he was funny in the film, but I thought it was a cameo?

The Foreign Press sure love their Cruise, don't they?

Look, if you're going to make your nominations legit, at least nominate the cast of "Frost/Nixon" for supporting, or yes, "Milk" which was getting all the love from all these critics organizations.

At least the HFPA got their main lead actors and actress nominations correct, and I love that James Franco is nominated for "Pineapple Express." His performance was the soul of the film.

But the biggest crime the Foreign Press committed? WHERE'S "THE DARK KNIGHT?" Come on, the biggest blockbuster this year, was also one of the year's best! Ugh! I'm glad I'm not a member of the HFPA :happy
