Reinventing "The Crow"

"The Crow" is set for a makeover!

Director Stephen Norrington, who gave us "Blade," and the horrible "The League of the Extraordinary Gentlemen."

Incidentally, Norrington and the main star of "Gentlemen," Sean Connery, has not made a film since!

Wow! That bad huh?

Norrington said he felt demoralized with that experience, so he stopped making movies for 5 years.

But now he's ready! He even tried to direct the "Clash of the Titans" remake, but failed to excite Warner Bros.

So, he's focusing on "The Crow." Which, Norrington is saying will be different from the original film by Alex Proyas.

"The Phantom" Sequel to be Filmed in Australia!

I didn't know "The Phantom" has a huge cult following!

The 1996 film starring Billy Zane wasn't as great as it could have been, but now, the purple skintight-wearing superhero will return!

Here are some fun factoids:

*** it's a followup called "The Phantom Legacy"

*** this latest adaptation will cost $87 million

*** it will focus on the father/son relationship, and what it means to be Phantom

*** this film will be set in the present day

*** the concept? Destiny!

*** it will be shot entirely in Australia

*** production is set to begin within 6 to 9 months

*** producers are in talks with several "top talent" from Australia and the U.S.

So no director or star attached to the film yet, but it's going to be written by a guy named Tim Boyle.

Ah, I see!

Another Big Win for "Slumdog Millionaire" -- This Time? Satellite Awards!!!

As we reported the first week of December, both "Milk" and "Slumdog Millionaire" received multiple nominations from the International Press Academy's annual awards gala, the Satellite Awards.

Well, only "Slumdog Millionaire" emerged victorious! "Milk" was ignored including Sean Penn for Best Actor.

But hey, the International Press is akin to the Golden Globes, do not bet your Oscar money on it :happy
