The "Rosemary's Baby" Remake? DEAD!

As we told you back in March, Michael Bay and company were planning a remake of "Rosemary's Baby."

Well, good news!

According to WENN, the movie producers behind a planned remake of the 1968 horror classic have dropped plans for a new film.

Hurray!

They shouldn't have thought of remaking this film in the first place! Leave the movie alone, and let it be enjoyed in its purest form by future generations!

TOP 10 BEST MOVIES OF THE YEAR! IT'S ALL ABOUT HOPE!

There are way too many great films in 2008! It was hard for me to pinpoint the TOP 10. But before we talk about my Top 10 list, let's talk about the runner-ups, and here they are:

"FROZEN RIVER" -- Melissa Leo is superb!

"THE VISITOR" -- Richard Jenkins deserves an Oscar nomination.

"DOUBT" -- the acting ensemble is superb, but Viola Davis as the suffering mom steals the show!

"ROLE MODELS" -- I love this comedy! And I want to see it again!

"RACHEL GETTING MARRIED" -- Anne Hathaway deserves an Oscar nomination as the family's blacksheep, Kym.

"RELIGULOUS" -- Bill Maher's irreverent documentary is an intelligent look at religion.

"CHOKE" -- I adore Chuck Pahlaniuk and this film's biting humor!

"BURN AFTER READING" -- Not the best Coen Brothers' flick, but it's still entertaining thanks to Brad Pitt's winning performance.

"HAMLET 2" -- Rock Me Sexy Jesus indeed!

"TROPIC THUNDER" -- a funny satire on Hollywood and filmmaking!

"THE VISITOR" – Richard Jenkins gave one of the year’s best performances in this uplifting movie!

"HAPPY-GO-LUCKY"
– Speaking of uplifting, Mike Leigh’s film about an optimistic teacher (Sally Hawkins) will put a big smile on your face!

“AMERICAN TEEN” – This documentary set in a high school in a small Indiana town is a fantastic study of teenage life in America.

“MAMMA MIA!” – I’m so happy that Meryl Streep is finding new career resurgence as a box-office phenomenon! This is one of the feel good movies of the year!

“WANTED” – One of the year’s best action films, James McAvoy is the reluctant action star, and Angelina Jolie? Love her!

“IRON MAN”
– it’s one of those rare magical movie moments where the performances (led by Robert Downey Jr.) and the direction (Jon Favreau) converge to give us one of the year’s most captivating action films – and yeah, it’s a comic book adaptation too!

“HORTON HEARS A WHO” – A person’s a person, no matter how small! I can relate!

“IN BRUGES”
– Collin Farrell at his finest! I even shed a tear!

“SON OF RAMBOW” – If you’ve ever fantasized about making a movie as a child, here’s the film for you!

AND NOW, MY FAVORITE FILMS, THE TOP 10 BEST MOVIES OF 2008!

AND YES, IT'S ALL ABOUT HOPE!

HAVE FUN AND HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!

I Implore you Dear Readers -- Watch "Let the Right One In"

I love this film! I've seen this movie twice now!

"Let the Right One In" is the BEST FOREIGN FILM OF 2008 (I'll post my TOP 10 later).

The story of Oskar, a 12-year old human boy who falls in love with Eli, a vampire who's been 12-year old for a long time, puts "Twilight" to shame!

It's an engrossing Swedish film who takes advantage of the magic of light and sound to get its point across.

It's moody, atmospheric, and just PLAIN BRILLIANT!

Oh yeah, it's violent and creepy too, thanks largely to the wonderful acting of Lina Leandersson as Eli, the vampire.

And it's also a hopeful love story, told from the perspective of the little boy, Oskar, played with such hope by Kåre Hedebrant.

I'm telling you, watch this movie when you can, before Hollywood buy the rights to the film, and mess it all up!

FOOTNOTE: Rumors have been swirling that JJ Abrams and his Bad Robot Company are angling to remake this movie! Look, I adore "Lost," have a spot spot for "Cloverfield," and high hopes for the "Star Trek" reboot, but please, Mister JJ, stop it! "Let the Right One In" doesn't need to be remade.

It's beautiful and glorious as it is!

Audiences Say Yes to Jim Carrey's "Yes Man"

"Yes Man" or should we call it, "Liar, Liar Part Deux" reigned on top of the box office even though movie audiences just greeted it with a mere whisper!

The Jim Carrey flick debuted at No. 1 with $18.2 million in ticket sales which wasn't that huge for a Carrey movie.

But more shocking? "Seven Pounds" starring Blockbuster King, Will Smith, opened at No. 2 with just $16 million.

At No. 3? The animated flick "The Tale of Desperaux" sold only $10.5 million.

Why so low with the Top 3 films?

Studios were blaming the storms pounding the Northeast!

And not the fact that the three flicks weren't exactly high-quality entertainment.

"Yes Man" is predictable, saved by Carrey's fun but manic energy. "Seven Pounds" is boring and depressing, and by the time we see the twist in the end, many folks would have left the theaters. And "Desperaux?" Well, it's just one of those feel-good animated flicks that felt rushed for the holidays.

Previous No. 1 film, "The Day the Earth Stood Still" fell to No. 4 with $10.2 million bucks. Sorry Klaatu, I mean, Keanu!

The good news? The Mickey Rourke drama, "The Wrestler," took in $209,474 in just 4 theaters with a whopping average of $52,369 per theater.

That's impressive!
