"Gilligan's Island" the Movie Sailing Forward?

According to/Film, "Gilligan's Island" creator, Sherwood Schwartz, and his son Lloyd signed on to bring the TV classic to the big screen!

But wait, there's more!

Apparently, the Schwartz's wants Michael Cera ("Superbad," "Juno," "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist") to play Gilligan, and Beyonce to star as Ginger.

Honestly, besides a few nostalgic folks, I don't think this project will work on the big screen. A made-for-TV project may work, but being lost on an island nowadays is not as fun anymore -- it's more kinetic like "Lost."

But gee, I wonder what prompted this decision. Oh yeah, "Land of the Lost" big-screen adaptation! (see below)

See "Land of the Lost" Poster!

I saw bits and pieces of this film at this year's Comic-Con. And I'm kinda, sorta excited.

I grew up with the original Sid & Marty Krofft series, so this has a special place in my heart.

The film opens June 5th, but for now, take a look at the poster by clicking Read More: Read More...

"The Green Hornet" News: Stephen Chow to Say Goodbye Altogether?

Last weekend, we said Stephen Chow will NOT be directing "The Green Hornet" but will still co-star with Seth Rogen as Kato.

Now, the Associated Press is reporting that Chow:

...may not star as Kato, a character made famous by Bruce Lee in the short-lived TV series.

Why? Because:

he wants to free up time to work with Jack Black on a comedy about a superhero

Huh? What superhero Jack Black movie?

And now, Chow is saying he may or may not stay in the film, "depending on his schedule."

Oh, okay. Let's wait and see how Columbia Pictures folks will respond!

"H2" News: Is Laurie Strode Returning to "Halloween 2"

As we reported last week, director Rob Zombie is returning for the second installment of his "Halloween" re-imagination.

Simply called "H2," the sequel is on schedule to be released next year!

Now, Zombie is dropping hints that the Laurie Strode character will return as well!

The character, popularized by Jamie Lee Curtis in the John Carpenter classic and played by Scout Taylor-Compton in Zombie's take, also returned on the 1981 sequel.

Remember Haddonfield Hospital?

The battleground between Michael Myers and his sister, Laurie.

Check out Zombie's MySpace page and see what he's saying about Laurie Strode.

It's still unclear whether Compton will return for "H2" though.
