My Fun Interview with Charlize Theron for "Young Adult"

Charlize Theron gives a wonderful, memorable performance in “Young Adult.” She plays the unlikeable Mavis Gary, a writer for teen novels. She is the young adult of the title and she refuses to grow up!

The beauty of Theron’s performance is that she will hold your attention from beginning to the end. She has palpable chemistry with co-star Patton Oswalt. Both actors are deservingly getting awards recognitions.

(To read my "Young Adult" movie review, click here)

In this interview, we talked about:

*** The unlikeable quality of her character
*** Is her character redeemed?
*** What did she think of the script when she initially read it?
*** Her fight to not change the script’s tone!
*** Working with Patton Oswalt
*** Any regrets from High School?

Have fun!

Here's more "Young Adult" info from Yahoo:

Jason Reitman Opens Up About "Young Adult!"

Hats off to director Jason Reitman! He’s a competent storyteller, and is never boring! From “Thank You for Smoking,” to “Up in the Air,” to “Juno,” Reitman has been consistent. With “Young Adult,” the director reteamed with his “Juno” muse, Diablo Cody, and came up with a very un-Hollywood take on romantic comedies.

Plus points for the director for being funny in real life!

In this interview, we talked about:

*** What made him want to work with Diablo Cody again?
*** The film as a character study
*** His High School years
*** Identifying with the Mavis character
*** Working with Charlize Theron
*** Ken-Taco-Hut (KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut are featured prominently in the film)
*** The joys of eating fast food!

Have fun!

Diablo Cody Explains "Young Adult"

I just love Miss Diablo Cody! She’s witty, nice, and writes really great characters, okay, “Jennifer’s Body” was a misstep. But with “Young Adult,” Cody got her groove back! She spins an original tale about a 30-something woman (wonderfully played by Charlize Theron) who still thinks she’s a young adult.

SIDENOTE: I started following Diablo Cody way back during the height of MySpace. Then, “Juno” happened, and her star exploded! I haven’t been back on MySpace to check up on her. I haven’t been back on MySpace period! Have you? :wink

In this interview, we talked about:

*** The movie’s un-Hollywood treatment of romantic comedies
*** What made her want to make “Young Adult?”
*** Is Charlize Theron’s character redeemed in the end? Did she learn anything?
*** The movie as a character study
*** Her Midwest roots
*** Working with Jason Reitman the second time around
*** Any regrets from High School?

Have fun!

Patton Oswalt Interview for "Young Adult!"

Patton Oswalt gave a memorable performance in “Young Adult” where he plays Matt, the “geek” who falls in love with the popular girl, Mavis (Charlize Theron). This was my second time interviewing the actor, the first was for Disney/Pixar’s “Ratatouille.” His “Young Adult” role is certainly miles away from Remy the rat.

In this interview, we talked about:

*** What attracted him to the character Matt?
*** The challenges of working in “Young Adult”
*** The amazing Collette Wolfe who plays his sister Sandra
*** Any regrets from High School?
*** How did he prepare for his role?

Have fun!
