Bryce Dallas Howard's Movie Among Live Action Short Film Oscar Shortlist 


The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the shortlist for the Best Live Action Short Films category. From 125 pictures down to 11! And they are:

“Kiruna-Kigali,” Goran Kapetanovic, director (Hepp Film AB)
“The Night Shift Belongs to the Stars,” Silvia Bizio and Paola Porrini Bisson, producers (Oh! Pen LLC)
“9meter,” Anders Walther, director, and Tivi Magnusson, producer (M & M Productions A/S)
“Salar,” Nicholas Greene, director, and Julie Buck, producer (Nicholas Greene)

"Searching for Sugar Man" Among Producers Guild Documentary Nominees 


The Producers Guild of America (PGA) has announced the nominees for the Documentary Motion Picture category for the 24th Annual Producers Guild Awards. I'm bummed that "The Imposter" and "Queen of Versailles" were not included :sad

All the other nominations for the Producers Guild Awards will be announced on January 3, 2013. Winners will be revealed on January 26 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" Among Visual Effects Oscar Shortlist 


The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the shortlist for the Visual Effects Oscar race. It has now been narrowed down to 10 contenders. Sorry "Looper," "The Hunger Games," "Men in Black III," "The Impossible," and "Flight."

Members of the Visual Effects Branch will be asked to see 10-minute excerpts of each of the 10 shortlisted films below on Thursday, January 3. Then, they will vote to nominate five films for the final Oscar consideration. The nominees for the 85th Academy Awards will be announced live on Thursday, January 10 at 5:30 a.m.

And the chosen 10 movies for Visual Effects are:

“The Amazing Spider-Man”
“Cloud Atlas”
“The Dark Knight Rises”
“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”
“John Carter”
“Life of Pi”
“Marvel’s The Avengers”
“Prometheus”
“Skyfall”
“Snow White and the Huntsman”

Just Saw "Les Miserables" the Movie and... 


All I can say is wow! A brilliant masterpiece! Hugh Jackman carries the film and Anne Hathaway deserves a Best Supporting Actress Oscar!
