Amanda Seyfried (Cosette) Interview for “Les Miserables”

I love me some Amanda Seyfried. She’s always sweetly feisty in my interviews with her. But in the film, she plays the innocent Cosette, the heart and light of the film. Wait until you see her showstopping number, “In My Life”/”A Heart Full of Love” sung with Eddie Redmayne and Samantha Barks. In this interview, we talked about:

*** The rigorous audition process – she invoked President Obama
*** Playing Cosette
*** Her connection with Cosette when she was a little girl
*** The importance of “On My Own”

Director Tom Hooper Interview “Les Miserables!” The “King’s Speech” Director Challenges Himself!

So director Tom Hooper, the Academy Award-winning filmmaker of “The King’s Speech,” decided to work on the big screen version of “Les Miserables” and made a very important call – his cast will not lip synch to the music, they will sing it live, and with feeling and passion depending on their characters. The sung-through technique is brilliant and gives the film much more weight! So, I was happy as a clam to interview Mr. Hooper, one-on-one. In this interview, we talked about:

*** He loves the “Les Miserables” shirt I ironed-on LOL
*** Was it a daunting task to create a big-screen version of the musical?
*** Why was it his dream to make “Les Miserables?”
*** His sung-through technique
*** His tight close-ups technique
*** I actually enjoyed the story better now that watching the play numerous times

Samantha Barks (Eponine) Interview for “Les Miserables!” I Sang “On My Own” to Her!

I love Samantha Barks! She is sweet, bubbly, jovial all in one brilliant package! She was happy as a clam too when I interviewed her for “Les Miserables.” She is making her feature film debut and oh my, what a debut it is! She nails it as the lovelorn Eponine. The sassy showgirl whose humble beginnings started in a U.K. reality show, “I’d Do Anything,” is on her way to bigger and better things!

In this interview, yes, I sang to her, but we’ll get to that:

*** Why “Les Miserables” is her biggest passion
*** Her climb to fame
*** Her natural performance as Eponine
*** How she got that part
*** What Cameron Mackintosh did to tell her she got the part
*** Her super-skinny waist – to look waif-like
*** Singing “On My Own” with Eponine aka Samantha Barks

Eddie Redmayne created a memorable performance in last year’s “My Week with Marilyn.” But who knew he could sing? And sing well! Redmayne stars as Marius in the new epic musical “Les Miserables.” Wait until you see him sing the character’s signature song “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables.” Goosebumps galore!

In this interview, we talked about:

*** His rigorous audition process for “Les Miserables” while wearing a Texan cowboy outfit
*** His special connection to “Les Miserables” the musical
*** He’s wearing the same hairdo as his character Marius
*** Working with Amanda and her character being the bearer of hope and light
