Precious! "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" Breaks December Box-Office Records!

Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" topped the box-office weekend with an $84.8 million opening, shattering the record-openings of the three previous "Lord of the Rings" films. Based on J.R.R. Tolkien's novel, "The Hobbit" also broke December box-office records previously set by Will Smith's "I Am Legend" which opened with $77.2 million in 2007, and James Cameron's "Avatar" which debuted with $77 million.

Internationally, "The Hobbit" was also king with $138.2 million for a global total of $223 million. Some critics did not think "The Hobbit" was precious, but moviegoers gave the film an "A" CinemaScore which meant this "Hobbit" has long legs, or hairy feet. "Rise of the Guardians" followed at No. 2 with $7.4 million, "Lincoln" at No. 3 with $7.2 million, "Skyfall" at No. 4 with $7 million, and "Life of Pi" completed the Top 5 with $5.4 million.

Here's the estimated Top 10 box-office films for weekend of Dec. 14th:

My Fun Interview with Anne Hathaway for “Les Miserables!’ I Told Her She’ll Win an Oscar!

I love, love, love Anne Hathaway! She’s quick-witted and sweet-natured and it’s always a pleasure interviewing her. Oh, when I walked into the room, instead of shaking my hand, she gave me a big hug, yes, we’re not big hug buddies, and I’m very happy!

Hathaway is having a great year – playing Catwoman in “The Dark Knight Rises,” and now Fantine in “Les Miserables.” Two great roles from two great movies in one whole year. Not to mention that the actress just got married and turned 30! Lots of big events for one of my favorite actresses. Wait until you see her signature “Les Miserables” song “I Dreamed a Dream” – she will make you cry buckets!

In this interview, we talked about:

*** She loves my shirt, she tells me I’ll get an award, so I bounce back by telling her she’ll get an Oscar – watch her reaction
*** Such dedication to the craft!
*** Working with director Tom Hooper
*** Auditioning for the role
*** The sung-through process
*** The vulnerability of singing while acting
*** How she lost 25 lbs in 5 weeks to play Fantine
***2012 as her year!
*** And I ended it by congratulating her for her Oscar!

Have fun! :happy
