It's Pixar VS. Pixar at 43rd Annie Award Nominations

The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, has announced the nominations for the 43rd Annual Annie Awards and "Inside Out" and "The Good Dinosaur," both Pixar movies, led the pack! "Inside Out" received fourteen nominations while "The Good Dinosaur" got nine.

"Mad Max: Fury Road" Named Best Film by National Board of Review! See Complete List of Winners!

The National Board of Review has announced its 2015 winners and George Miller's "Mad Max: Fury Road" took the top prize of Best Film of the year although Ridley Scott won best director for "The Martian" with Matt Damon winning the best actor trophy.

I love that Brie Larson from "Room" won the best actress award and yay for Sylvester Stallone! He won the best supporting actor award for "Creed!" Completing the acting awards is Jennifer Jason Leigh for best supporting actress for Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight."

In case you're wondering, members of the National Board of Review (select group of film enthusiasts, filmmakers, professionals, academics, and students) watched over 250 films (studio, independent, foreign-language, animated, and documentary) and the screenings "were frequently followed by in-depth discussions with directors, actors, producers, and screenwriters. "Spotlight" Shines at 25th Gotham Independent Film Awards

Tom McCarthy's "Spotlight" was the big winner at the 25th Gotham Independent Film Awards. The true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the child molestation in the Catholic church took home the Best Feature and Screenplay trophies. I love this film! It's ripe for melodrama but McCarthy wisely avoided that!

Another film I love that won big at the Gotham Awards is Sean Baker's "Tangerine." It took home the Audience award with Mya Taylor winning the Breakthrough Actor trophy.
