"Shrek" Remains No. 1 Box-Office Champion After Third-Straight Weekend!

New releases failed to topple down the mighty green ogre. "Shrek Forever After" remained the No. 1 movie after three weeks emerging victorious over "Marmaduke," "Splice," "Get Him to the Greek," and "Killers."

"Shrek" grabbed $25.3 million at the box-office, raising its three-week domestic total to $183 million. Universal's quasi-spin off of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "Get Him to the Greek," was the best of the four box-office newcomers. The comedy from the Judd Apatow factory debuted at No. 2 with $17.4 million.

Russell Brand rehashed his "Sarah Marshall" character, Aldous Snow, for this fun raunch-fest co-starring Jonah Hill and Sean P.Diddy Combs. (Check out my "Get Him to the Greek" movie review right here)

Debuting at No. 3 with $16.1 million was "Killers," Lionsgate's action comedy starring Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher. This film wasn't shown in advance to critics, so you know what that meant, "Killers" wasn't that good and Lionsgate was not proud of its product.

20th Century Fox's family comedy based on a popular comic strip, "Marmaduke," made $11.3 million while the horror "Frankenstein" inspired tale, "Splice," from Warner Bros. made $7.5 million. (Check out my interviews with stars Adrien Brody, Sarah Polley, and Delphine Chaneac, and my "Splice" movie review)

So apparently, movie attendance was down from last year. Um, is it because the slate this summer is not as exciting as last year's? And really, it's still too early for the summer, we still have "Toy Story 3" coming up, and next week's 80s revivals, "The Karate Kid" and "The A-Team." (HINT: I enjoyed "The A-Team" tremendously -- I'll post my review very soon!)

And with all this doom and gloom report about how box-office receipts are down blah blah blah, revenues are up 3.7 percent at $4.47 billion BUT factoring in higher ticket prices, attendance has slipped at 2.7 percent. Just wait, "Twilight: Eclipse" will save us all, or perhaps, Christopher Nolan's "Inception!"

Here's the list of the estimated Top 10 box-office films for weekend of June 4th:

1. "Shrek Forever After," $25.3 million.

2. "Get Him to the Greek," $17.4 million.

3. "Killers," $16.1 million.

4. "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," $13.9 million.

5. "Sex and the City 2," $12.7 million.

6. "Marmaduke," $11.3 million.

7. "Iron Man 2," $7.8 million.

8. "Splice," $7.5 million.
