I truly enjoyed talking to Kara Wang, star of the new dystopian survivalist thriller “The Calm Beyond.”  It was the feature film debut of the award-winning commercials and shorts director Joshua Wong who tragically lost his battle with cancer in December 2020.

But his legacy lives on with “The Calm Beyond.”  Here’s the official synopsis:

A young woman lives, hidden in plain sight in a ruined Hong Kong building after a tsunami destroyed the city – A castaway on a concrete island. Her concealed existence is changed forever when a small child literally floats into her life.

That young woman is wonderfully played by Wang who holds our attention from start to finish.  Meditative yet entertaining, “The Calm Beyond” speaks volumes on climate change and surviving life.
